How to Alias a Domain Name or Sub Domain to Amazon S3
A few months ago, I noticed I was approaching my bandwidth limits on my hosting account. Switching hosting providers is a pain, so I decided to move some high-bandwidth graphics to Amazon S3, where the bandwidth is cheap and unlimited. All was well until I realized that Google was returning search results pointing to my bucket on s3.amazonaws.com instead of carltonbale.com. Luckily, AmazonAWS has a work-around. You can use your own domain name in an Amazon S3 bucket. Here are the instructions on how to do it, from beginning to end.

Cost of Inkjet Printing Report Canon PRO-100
This report addresses concerns and arguments about the true cost of ink in desktop photo printing.  Using the Canon PRO-100, we conducted a series of print tests to determine how much ink is used in a full coverage 8”x10” print.  From that figure, we extrapolated ink usage per square inch.  The objective is to share a realistic cost-per-print-vision with inkjet users.  The choice to pursue photo inkjet printing is in the end an individual economic choice.

Renew a DHCP lease - Mac OS X Hints
Renewing a DHCP lease via the Network System Preference Pane has the advantage of not dropping the connection, unlike switching the interface to BOOTP and back to DHCP. This command mimics that behavior.

It seems that the button creates a key in SystemConfiguration that notifies it to refresh the configuration. We can create that key using the following command (changing en0 for the relevant interface):
echo "add State:/Network/Interface/en0/RefreshConfiguration temporary" | sudo scutil
