FWIW, notarization can be considered “co-signing”. You take existing DevID codesigned code, and submit the final file to Apple so Apple can do a malware check and notarize the final file as “checked”.

The most important thing to note when using altool is that you should submit the *final* file you actually distribute to users, after it has been codesigned.

If you re-codesign after notarization, you will have to submit the file via altool again.

You should staple the notarization ticket, because when your users launch/install the file you distribute, the system won’t have to download the ticket.

Downloading the ticket may be “painful” for users with poor or no network access.
