As a user, Catalina is the worst macOS update I've ever seen. Worse than 10.7, worse than 10.10.

It's unfortunate that it also happens to be the first macOS update that Apple pushes this aggressively.

Please slow down. https://t.co/qwociNPgBl

It just dawned on me that I managed to skip storyboards entirely — none of our apps ever used one, and likely never will. That's a success in my book. And the new code-based UI stuff looks like something I'll eventually grow fond of.

Unpopular opinion: I'm not looking forward to the iTunes breakup.

Will we still be able to back up iOS devices locally and sync Mac vs. iOS in a post-iTunes world? I don't want to buy an iCloud subscription, and I don't want my personal data/photos on US servers.

This was indeed a great session. I learned that notarization requires the hardened runtime, which strikes me as a good thing. The more granularity, the better! If we're lucky, this will pave the way for new entitlements. :)

Time Sink for iOS. If they do it on the Mac, I won't even be mad, because the cross-device aspect is huge. Third-party apps can't do that. (And neither can they enforce allowances.)
