Looks like Apple has removed many mailing lists from https://t.co/h4oCiiIORK - including archives: https://t.co/hhqbJctTc2

Just tried to read a post from 2017 in bonjour-dev referenced from Apple's forums: Page Not Found. Not even the Internet Archive has it. 🙁

What if the XPC service only returns avatar images for email addresses?

In that case, a compromised GitFinder has no access to contacts data & only to those avatars for which the attacker already knows the email.

W/o separation of powers, an attacker gains unlimited access.

Bug: in #macOS 10.14/10.15 host apps needs to be given the same privacy entitlement as bundled XPC services - even if ONLY the XPC service needs it; eliminating THE key security benefit of sandboxed XPC services & increasing attack surface.

Following issues with expired #macOS installers, Apple now provides direct download (!) copies of updated installers for macOS 10.10 - 10.12. For macOS 10.13 - 10.15, Apple provides App Store links. Main support document here: https://t.co/R4h0rn5jXZ

✅ perfectly fits the task at hand 🥰
✅ documented in Apple's unified API docs: not newly added & not deprecated 😍

With the growing # of special entitlements and a growing # of apps' dependence on them, I'd really love to see an Entitlements page in dev accounts, where one can request & receive status info and updates on all of them. The current process seems fragile: https://t.co/KzvQzuwDx8

#DriverKit then, seems to offer what the doctor ordered. But even though you already need to get an Apple dev account, a Developer ID and notarize the dext, access to DriverKit is further gated by an entitlement you have to apply for. Why? I've yet to find a good reason for that.

Apps that have to use #Kexts already were hit hard by 10.13's user approval dialogs (and the way they were implemented). With 10.15, users will also be required to reboot their Mac before a new Kext can be used, which will essentially make Kexts no longer viable for most apps.

Regarding the future of automation on macOS: AppleScript security could actually be a solved problem IF Apple would base #AppleEventSandboxing on AppleEvent Access Groups (a 2012 Apple invention). More granular, secure and informative. Less alerts, too. https://t.co/q2aI6pojLx

macOS is meant to silently ignore synthetic clicks on that "Allow" button - including from screen sharing - and only react to clicks if they come from a real mouse or trackpad. Developing a kext myself, I keep getting support emails because of that: https://t.co/3xwwxufIXT
