KGI’s screen resolution for 6.1-inch is 1792x828. The 6.5-inch is 2688x1242.

So that’s very conveniently 896x414@3x and 896x414@2x — so both phones would show the same amount of content, just at different pixel densities.

The iOS 7 development rush prioritised iPhone and almost all of Apple’s iPad apps suffered. Then, came along the need for adaptive apps with new screen sizes and split-screen. Both of those things meant the iPad apps never got the same level of care as the early years.
