Through social psychology and cognitive science, we now know a great deal about our own frailties in the way that we seek, use, and understand information and data. On the web, user interface design may work to either exacerbate or counteract these biases. This article will give a brief overview of the science then look at possible ways that design and implementation can be employed to support better judgements.

SEATTLE, Oct. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- California voters have a FREE, non-partisan resource at their fingertips. CityClub of Seattle, the University of Washington's Engage have launched California's first Living Voters Guide, cali.livingvotersguide.org, an innovative online tool that fosters voter education, deliberation and civil discourse. The California launch was supported by a grant from The Whitman Institute (CA). The California Living Voters Guide addresses 11 statewide ballot measures.

Seattle developers release new open source tool to combat ballot fatigue — Washington News Council
The first is a new website unveiled this week at Seattle City Club’s recent lunch event. It’s called the Living Voters Guide, and it’s funded by the National Science Foundation. Not only is the idea really cool with an easy to understand layout, it is also a multi-pronged tool that can be used to serve numerous roles.
