The culture cure: how prescription art is lifting people out of depression| Helen Russell | World news | The Guardian
Mikael Odder Nielsen, the Aalborg course leader, says: “We wanted to see if we could make people’s mental health better, reduce social isolation and help them get back into the labour market via culture.”

Participants were invited to go on two or three cultural excursions a week for 10 weeks. This appealed to Thrysøe. “It was an activity that would get me out of the house, something that wasn’t a medical appointment, where I was treated as ‘normal’. Because I am not my anxiety, I’m me. And the course helped me feel like ‘me’ again,” he says.

Tenured Professor Rogers Talks About: Imposter Syndrome
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a six-sided die. He turns it over and over in his hands. “It’s also important to remember that even when you do your very best, there are things that are out of your control, like who reviews your paper. There is some degree of randomness involved in all kinds of things when it comes to academic success. Like, where you get a faculty job depends on where there happen to be job openings the year you apply.” He rolls the die, and it lands on a two. “Sometimes the randomness has a bad result.” He rolls it again. A five this time. “But sometimes it works in your favor.”

Skid Crease | Environmental Literacy | Page 6
Yes, it is a fact that Vladimir Vranic, an organized crime enforcer, was charged by the OPP and found guilty of threatening Mayor Marolyn Morrison’s husband Yes, Jeffrey Granger, ex-CRA employee and ex-consultant for a local developer, was charged by the OPP and found guilty and sentenced to three years for his involvement in a scheme to help wealthy developers evade taxes and frame Caledon’s Mayor for taking kickbacks. The developer denied any connection with the two cases. The two men who assaulted and beat up John Morrison during this period of intimidation were never caught. There were two brief articles about these incidents in the local press, and then the story disappeared.

Woman files integrity complaint against council | Windsor Star
Caroline Taylor opposes the plan for Windsor’s new acute care “megahospital” to be located on farmland opposite Windsor Airport and is a member of Citizens for an Accountable Megahospital Planning Process, a local group urging it be instead located in the city’s core. Having the megahospital’s main player, Musyj, make recommendations on possible pay raises for councillors at around the same time that council makes a critical decision on the rezoning application for the 60-acre hospital site, “is so wrong,” Taylor said Tuesday as she filed her complaint with integrity commissioner Bruce Elman.

Everyone Hates Setting Goals. Here's How Google Makes It Easier for Its Employees | Inc.com
But just any goal won't do. Research shows that goals are not only important but also that the level of specificity and difficulty matters. Goals that are both clear and challenging drive higher levels of performance.

To set their teams up for success, many organizations use SMART goals. Google leaders use something a little different--"Objectives and Key Results" (OKRs). On Google's re:Work site, a resource that shares the company's perspective on people operations, Google explains the concept.
Objectives ("O")

Objectives are the "big picture." They answer the questions "Where do we want to go?" and "What do we want to do?" Also, objectives are where Google encourages its employees to stretch themselves, be ambitious, and embrace uncertainty. If you don't get nervous or feel a little uncomfortable after setting a goal, then you haven't reached high enough.
