Telephony’ (that’s business speak for ‘telephone’) channels will be indistinguishable from digital. Like most channels they will become seamless rather than things that businesses treat as separately designed, managed or ‘owned’.
To make all this happen, content design will have to become more of a recognised and important skill set in digital delivery.

Thoughts for GDS SPRINT15 event
So in summary: looking across at other digital business models, digital’s certainly all about giving users what they want, via the interface they want, when they want – and for less; but the really exciting part, for me, is that if properly architected and astutely politically stewarded, digital could entail a wholesale reimagination of the way we serve each other face to face, and actually increase, rather than cut, our public services.

Governments' IT projects needn't cost the world. Here's how we can do better | Malcolm Turnbull | Commentisfree | The Guardian
None of this sounds revolutionary for those involved in the technology business. The most successful are totally focussed on customers – their needs, their convenience, their experience; and competition quickly sorts out the stars from the also rans.

Governments, more often than not, don’t have the discipline of competition, so they need to work even harder never to forget that the only objective is to deliver a better and better service for the citizens they represent.

Episode Sixty Three: Disbanded; The Responsive OS
Nike is still an atoms company. If you take a look at their current executives[7], there's no one who knows how to build, launch and sustain digital products, never mind good digital products. In fact, Nike doesn't even appear to have a CTO. They have technology executives responsible for things like supply chain management and their store.com, and even a "consumer technology officer" but their feet are still firmly planted in the pre-internet, pre-digital era. And you have no idea how painful it is to keep using the word "digital".

On the surface, though, it's quite a bit cheaper than competing trackers: $99 on Indiegogo, compared with $200 for the Filip. It's also smaller than most kid's watches, not to mention better-designed, though we'll admit cuteness is in the eye of the beholder.

Most ATMs will remain on Windows XP after Microsoft pulls plug on OS support - Computerworld
More than six out of 10 ATM machines in the country will be running on an obsolete operating system when Microsoft pulls the plug on Windows XP support on April 8, raising serious security and compliance issues for the systems' operators.

According to the ATM Industry Association (ATMIA), about 38% of the nearly 425,000 ATMs in the U.S. that are powered by Windows XP will have migrated off the OS by next month's deadline.

russell davies: the web, the web, the web
I Am Further Acknowledging Again That This Is Hard: It's hard because you have thousands of skus and legacy systems tied into horrible service contracts in competing regions, divisions and cultures. Fair enough. That's what you have to solve. That's why it's not a technology problem.

If you have so many products that you can't build a website that can easily surface them - then you have too many products.

If you have a corporate structure that means customers can't find the stuff they want - then you have the wrong corporate structure.

Memex 1.1 » Blog Archive » My advice to Tony Hall
The dream that the Internet would make everything available to everyone on equal terms is fading fast... So here’s what the BBC should be doing next: orchestrating the creation of a new kind of unwalled online garden, one which gathers together all of the nation’s cultural heritage in digitised form, together with: the metadata which enables things to be discovered; open access for all; and and permissive licences that allow citizens of Britain — and the world — to access, enjoy, consume, learn from and remix the great things that this society and its people have given to the world.
