Protective iPhone Cases & Wallets with RFID blocking by Vaultskin
Vaultcard seems to be a RFID transponder based jammer to protect nearby contactless cards. They seem to suggest the jamming is commensurate to reader power (to defend against high power reader attacks), but it isn't a dumb retroreflector.

Saying it doubles as tornado flying object protection is weak sauce, after the "For the Children!!!1" exclamation marks. For child safety though, really, if you are that afraid, buy the little tiger a ballistic school uniform or home school.

Isao Echizen's privacy shield, aka anti-facial recognition IR glasses, featuring infrared LED's in a sunglasses frame that disrupt the face enough to not be recognized. Apparently even Google Picasa is getting good enough to defeat people wearing regular sunglasses to avoid recognition, and allegedly CVdazzle makeup as well, so the prof made an active defense measure. Currently gunning for an unpowered version of the glasses, using wavelength specific reflector films to emulate the active IR lED attack method.

Rain Shield – Umbrella Redesign by Lin Min-Wei & Liu Li-Hsiang » Yanko Design
Dude might do a kickstarter for this concept umbrella. Interesting, but the folding mechanism, while necessary to keep it popped out when open, is somewhat unattractive because you are bound to get wet trying to fold the thing as shown. Also, needs to use some sort of clear plastic vinyl or have a clear plastic window, otherwise you can't see forward.

Japan firm unveils robot suit for nuclear workers
Congratulations Cyberdyne, you have now found the motherlode of government funding sources for development. Because who can really argue with increasing the safety of radiation workers by making a load bearing exoskeleton to carry that heavy tungsten rad shield? Now if they could only join the battery pack of HAL with those human cooling suits NASA made a while back for kids with body heat cooling disorders, you might have workers that won't keel over from heat stroke at Fukushima.

Superconducting Heat Shield
Magnetic heat shield, pushing the reentry heat plasma layer to a standoff distance. Slightly similar to VTOL SSTO designs that reenter engines first with engines running at idle power, which bathes the spacecraft in exhaust gases, which are lower in temperature than the reentry heat plasma/gases. As the comments correctly point out, this will reduce the protection requirements, but does not eliminate heat protection tiles/covers. Also, this probably applies only to blunt body reentry shapes that do very little hypersonic lifting, since this turns the underside into a giant balloon from the atmosphere's perspective.
