Programmable CNT based separation filters, possible basis for molecular manufacturing. At least it seems to deal with gas/liquids easily enough in theory for basic molecular synthesis of simple compounds. So could go from stripping CO2 and water from the atmosphere to make simple synthetic fuels like ethanol

Low cost plasma membrane reactor to efficiently convert ammonia to hydrogen
Using a plasma field between an iron tube and palladium foil tube, ammonia can be broken down to nitrogen and hydrogen, with the hydrogen pulled through the palladium foil efficiently, resulting in very high hydrogen gas purity separation. Process is low temperature and pressure as well, though the palladium foil probably isn't cheap. Effectively an ammonia fuel reformer for a hydrogen fuel cell, allowing storage of low pressure ammonia as fuel.

So covering a steel mesh in a weird polymer makes a decent oil\water separation membrane that can be clened just by running water through in reverse. Seems usable for ocean crude oil spill cleanup.

Working with DoE on a polymeric membrane called Polaris for CO2 separation of coal plant flue gas. Uses combustion gas slipstream for membrane sweeping. Claiming Polaris is 10x more permeable to CO2 than conventional materials.

Oxygen-separation membranes could aid in CO2 reduction - MIT News Office
Interesting possible combustor design for oxyfuel plants, where a combustor wrapped in this ceramic membrane does heat accelerated oxygen ion transport across the membrane from the air side to the combustor interior. How useful this is for regular oxygen separation is up for debate though, since this seems to want a direct heat source which would be difficult to arrange for a traditional ASU, thus pushing you to cryogenic air separation techniques. Hrm, I wonder if the flow rates and weight would be attractive to aircraft jet engine combustor applications, maybe extending up into a competitor for LACE?

Leaky graphene oxide lets water pour through
Whoa, this stops helium leakage?!? Can we say rocket tank liners anyone? Especially around welds. Also has applications for filtering water out of stuff, such as desalination reverse osmosis membranes.

I think they are basically trying to sell a thin film prismatic lens array with spectrum waveguiding as an aftermarket upgrade to existing solar PV systems. Wait, now they are doing photoelectrochemical hydrogen production with the intent of synthetic natural gas production? Seems they are close to the magical 1.23V open circuit voltage needed for direct solar hydrogen production.

Consecutive Thermal H2 and Light-Induced O2 Evolution from Water Promoted by a Metal Complex -- Kohl et al. 324 (5923): 74 -- Science
Okay, if this pans out, this could be huge. An artificial photosynthesis engine to produce hydrogen and oxygen, via a ruthenium metal complex. It's not clear if the hydrogen and oxygen liberation steps must be distinct. Could do a vertical torus pressure vessel half filled with cool water and a rotating catalyst bed ring, moving through pressure seals to separate the upper and lower halfs of the torus. Blast a quarter ring of the exposed exposed upper catalyst with hot water/steam to get a mixed steam/H2 stream, then blast the the other exposed quarter with the light to get O2, that by simple condensation of the stream will yield your hydrogen and oxygen. Dip the catalyst ring back into the cool water to regenerate the catalyst. I suppose there might be some chamber partitioning tricks to keep the oxygen and hydrogen separate.
