OSA | Computational imaging enables a “see-through” lens-less camera
So if about 1% of light passing through a glass pane can go to the edge, you can sorta recover the image going through the glass. This could effectively turn a display into a camera using an edge camera, rather than directly embedding sensor pixels into the display pixel array.

so lithium niobate makes for great resonators for fiber optic networks, but is chemically inert so you can't etch it easily. Now, it looks like they've achieved usable dry plasma etching to make waveguides/resonators.
