Apparently, by mimicking LED design concepts and other tricks, like increasing the reflectivity of the backing mirror, these guys have created a single junction PV cell that broke the 26% barrier. They apparently want to move into low volume initial manufacturing to produce iPad recharge cover panels, as that is a good enough demo of manufacturing methods, and is a servicable niche that can get them early revenue during the solar industry downturn.
