Free Cloud Shell!
So apparently google provides you with a free debian 7 VM with 5GB persistent home directory (though if you disconnect any apps temporarily installed get blown away if not in $home) if you have a valid gmail account. Not quite raining shells but...

GitHub - phocean/dockerfile-debian-metasploit
There are some limitations due to being inside a container, but potentially easier to install. Same with Kali too.

#761658 - Please do not default to using Google nameservers - Debian Bug report logs
Jebus, systemd defaulting to google nameservers if none are configured or picked up?!? Usually, when no DNS is configured, that's being done for a reason. If you are dependent on DHCP DNS listing, and someone screwed that up, you get them to fix their infrastructure, not do weird behavior.

A debian sid based distro, which basically is sid with a real installer and the latest mostly vanilla kernel. Promises upstream compatibility with sid packages, so basically this is a more usable sid distro, from an install and use perspective.

Power Pwn (Pre-order) | Pwnie Express
Appears to use a SheevaPlug for internals. Evil little beastie for pentesting, but I kinda doubt you can get some employee to pick one up in a parking lot and plug it into the corporate network, especially since it has a suspicious form factor/weight for a found object. But, send it in a nice box t someone, and they will probably plug it right in...

Interesting little tool for keeping versions of your /etc file hierarchy including permissions, so you can see your config files before you messed up your system. Keeps the versioned files in bazaar by default, but supports git and mercurial amongst other systems. Handy debian packages available.

How to wipe free disk space in Linux? - Super User
seems like I would need to do the following for a quick and dirty disk free space zeroing, if I wasn't going to script a dd megafile operation (doing the dd zero file file is a bit scary, but this is essentially doing the same thing...)

sfill -f -l -l -z /
