Nutrigenomics approach elucidates health-promoting effects of high vegetable intake in lean and obese men - Online First - Springer
Epigenetic approach to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of the beneficial effects of an increased vegetable intake reveals that there is a direct effect on the genes that modulate the NFkB regulated inflammation in the adipose tissue. The scientists observed these effects in lean as well as obese subjects who consumed either 50- or 200-g vegetables during a 4-week diet period. In how far the 40% calorie reduction may have influenced the results is yet something the study at hand cannot answer.
