Last year the NHS Scotland chief executive Paul Gray admitted some health workers are still reluctant to blow the whistle on unsafe practices for fear of being victimised. Mr Gray also said some staff do not raise issues because they believed it would not lead to any real change.

Nottingham woman, 93, found living in 'squalor'
Sevacare has been providing domiciliary care services for Nottingham City Council for five years and currently cares for 183 people
A report following a Care Quality Commission inspection in 2015 said improvement was required in two out of five areas - safety and responsiveness
The report noted: "Although there were sufficient numbers of staff, there was a high turnover, which impacted on people's views of the quality of service they received."
Sevacare was contracted to provide the 93-year-old woman with one two-hour support call and two 15-minute pop-in calls, a week.

Controlling parents 'harm future mental health' - BBC News
Children with caring parents were more securely attached and therefore better able to manage future relationships, the researchers said. Mothers' and fathers' care were equally important predictors of mental health through to middle age. But paternal care had a greater association with wellbeing in later life. They were also asked to reflect on the quality of their relationships with their parents in the first 16 years of their life. [...] "In some areas paternal care was more strongly associated with wellbeing than maternal care - the role of fathers should not be ignored when assessing psychological problems in children.
