[...] Advocatus Diaboli [...] Betriebsblindheit

dctp.tv | Jennifer Jacquet research about shame
Jennifer Jacquet research about shame;
Book available 2013

- threat of shame increases peoples compliance with group expectations and norms
- shame comes from non-compliance with norms (society, groups, cultural norms) thus shame differs
- differs to individuals perception and their own values
- Shame in online world much more readily DONE without second thoughts
- online shaming much more acceptable than offline shaming
- guilt and shame differs, the latter involves exposure. guilt is an internal norm, shame is an external norm we respond to

- probability high once people are shamed/exposed, they tend to keep going. ie shaming USA in matter of carbon emissions not helpful. OR bashing bankers for behaviour ie LIBOR rigging scandal; central bankers can not readily shame them if they were complicit behind closed doors (anti-trust style)

- Shame depends also on source, who shamed who. Bill Clinton can not shame bankers, because he has his particular history about shame himself

The Rise of the New Groupthink - NYTimes.com
Research strongly suggests that people are more creative when they enjoy privacy and freedom from interruption. And the most spectacularly creative people in many fields are often introverted, according to studies by the psychologists Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and Gregory Feist. They’re extroverted enough to exchange and advance ideas, but see themselves as independent and individualistic.

One explanation for these findings is that introverts are comfortable working alone — and solitude is a catalyst to innovation. As the influential psychologist Hans Eysenck observed, introversion fosters creativity by “concentrating the mind on the tasks in hand, and preventing the dissipation of energy on social and sexual matters unrelated to work.”

“Most inventors and engineers I’ve met are like me ... they live in their heads. They’re almost like artists. In fact, the very best of them are artists. And artists work best alone ....

The Following Sino Forest Sell-Side Analysts Should Be Terminated Immediately | zero hedge
In order to protect the reputation of such host firms as Raymond James, Dundee Securities, TD Newcrest, Credit Suisse, RBC, BMO and Scotia Capital, we urge the management teams to immediately terminate the following sell-side "analysts" whose work on TRE.TO was nothing but piggybacking on groupthink, doing absolutely no actual due diligence, costing clients billions in losses, and whose names will now forever be enshrined in the pantheon of "most worthless sellside analysts" ever.
