Pressure mounts on ministers to make sex education compulsory in schools | Education | The Guardian
Pressure is mounting on the government to introduce compulsory sex and relationships education (SRE) in schools after five chairs of parliamentary select committees sent a strongly worded letter to the education secretary demanding a change in policy.

The letter criticises the government’s “lacklustre” response earlier this week to a new report by the women and equalities committee in parliament, which revealed that sexual abuse of girls had become “accepted as part of everyday life” in England’s schools.

A Tory leadership race between two women is not a feminist revolution

Legal highs 'may be linked' to rise in HIV in Glasgow area
For the first time in almost 30 years, new diagnoses of HIV related to drug injecting was at a comparable level among gay and heterosexual men.
Investigations into the outbreak highlighted that some drug users were sharing needles, syringes, spoons and water when preparing and injecting their drugs.
It has also highlighted that there is low awareness of the risks of HIV from doing so. [...] Dr Catriona Milosevic, consultant in public health medicine at NHSGGC, said it was "vitally important" that people who inject drugs do not share or reuse equipment.

Super-gonorrhoea's spread 'causing huge concern'
Doctors have expressed "huge concern" that super-gonorrhoea has spread widely across England and to gay men.
The new superbug prompted a national alert last year when it emerged in Leeds, as one of the main treatments had become useless against it.
Public Health England acknowledges measures to contain the outbreak have been of "limited success".
Doctors fear the sexually transmitted infection, which can cause infertility, could soon become untreatable.
Cases of super-gonorrhoea have now been detected in the West Midlands, London and southern England.
Only 34 cases have been officially confirmed in laboratory testing, >>> but this is likely to be the tip of the iceberg of an infection that can be symptomless. <<< + cuts to public health budget! //&!

Richard Page suspended as non-executive director by Kent and Medway trust after being struck off from bench [...] Richard Page, who sat on the family bench in Kent, was struck off after telling the BBC in March 2015: “My responsibility as a magistrate, as I saw it, was to do what I considered best for the child, and my feeling was therefore that it would be better if it was a man and woman who were the adopted parents.”

Andrew Ling, chairman of the Kent and Medway NHS and social care partnership trust (KMPT), has written to the NHS Trust Development Authority (TDA) requesting the suspension of the 69-year-old.

Page, who has worked in the field of mental health for 20 years, said about his suspension: “Last week, the prime minister distributed an Easter video in which he commended Christians and the church for their vital role in society, stating that we are a Christian country and should be proud of it.

France to overhaul secularism teaching to help stop radicalisation | World news | The Guardian
The French principle of secularism has been twisted by politicians and so often wrongly used to attack Islam that schoolchildren have been left baffled, the French education minister has warned. Najat Vallaud-Belkacem told the Guardian that after last year’s devastating jihadi attacks in Paris, France was overhauling the teaching of secularism and civic values as part of the country’s drive against terrorism and radicalisation. “We have to reappropriate the concept of laïcité [secularism] so we can explain to our young pupils that whatever their faith, they belong to this idea and they’re not excluded. Secularism is not something against them; it protects them,” she said.

Conspiracy-theorist nutbags run Congress, and they’re making Benghazi a verb: Next up, climate scientists -
But in this political environment, being cautious about just handing a bunch of documents over to Republican is a smart move. After watching the Planned Parenthood and Benghazi hearings, a couple of things are clear: One, the Republicans will extract any stray word or number they can and take it out of context in an effort to advance their political agenda, with concerns about decency and honesty not restraining them in the slightest. Two, if they can’t find something like that, they’ll probably just lie about it. [...] The episode was a stellar demonstration of how the utter lack of morals and decency among House Republicans will lead them to distort and lie about numbers, even in the most obnoxious and obvious ways. The Trans Movement Needs a New, Science Based Strategy | Brynn Tannehill
Tuesday's defeat of HERO highlights several conclusions that the LGBT movement needs to take to heart for the next decade or so. Foremost is that we will not win transgender issues directly at the ballot box, or in the gerrymandered republican legislatures which dominate the political landscape. [...] When opponents frame legal protections for transgender people as a choice between a group strangers (who are suspected of being perverts anyway) and the safety your wives and daughters, transgender people will lose every time. So far, anti-LGBT forces have been far more successful at pushing their narrative. I don't foresee this changing anytime soon. [...] Convincing large numbers of people driven by fear and religious beliefs simply will not happen. &! &! &!

// [ MarriageTM , TM owns Christianity, Islam and other Religious leaders. ]
