&! &! bit.ly/1Ca85Vc

Women In Tech: It’s Not Just A Pipeline Problem | TechCrunch
Between ages 25 and 30, 41% of the young talent with credentials in those subject matters are female … [but] 52% of this talent drops out … The most important antigen is the machismo that continues to permeate these work environments … 63% of women in science, engineering and technology have experienced sexual harassment. [...] If you create an environment wherein a whole class of entrepreneurs and employees goes unnoticed by deeply flawed industry-wide “pattern recognition” heuristics, and/or one where they have to be perpetually on their guard, and must pretend not to notice all the myriad microaggressions that make them feel vulnerable and uncomfortable and out-of-place then many of those entrepreneurs and employees will decide, rightly, that the tech industry is not worth the hassle and grief. + http://craigconnects.org/2014/08/why-men-must-lean-in-to-support-womens-leadership-2.html

Diversity and Startups - Y Combinator Posthaven
"Sexism in tech is real. One of the most insidious things happening in the debate is people claiming versions of “other industries may have problems with sexism, but our industry doesn’t.” Both men and women claim this, even though it keeps getting harder to do in the face of shocks like the Tinder texts. We know there is a problem, especially when it comes to starting companies[.]" - // personal values, habits, (culture) will start to reflect internal/corp values and culturehttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8086549

Memo to my daughter: “Keep your eye on the ball and hit hard” | PandoDaily
What I love about Abramson’s [...] she’s named it, she’s owned it, but she doesn’t make herself a victim. She knows she lives in a sexist world and that makes her victories– and even her defeats– that much sweeter. This is how we should talk about women in the world. Not stupid debates about having it all. Taking the world as it exists, naming it, shrugging, and continuing to fight. // +++ // http://www.newrepublic.com/article/118735/problem-esquires-praise-42-year-old-women-amy-poehler "entrenched short-sightedness and sexist cruelty of male-controlled media [...] Yay, thanks for some crumbs of enlightened thinking, for some slightly nuanced improvements in the daily, punishing business of publicly evaluating and then reevaluating women’s worth. [...] 'I don’t fucking care if you like it.' [...] Social Media [frictionless, not thinking twice or setting something aside for a day]. [Women's] life['s and worth's] are up for public evaluation. [To this day.]" +++ bit.ly/1nXOGy8

The Future of Pando | Ugly.
The fact is, I’m getting a total pass for something I have repeatedly said was my responsibility, while my female business partner is receiving the full blame. It seems to me that either the person or persons spreading the smears about Pando has decided that a female employer is deserving of abuse and scorn in a way that a male boss isn’t, or they’ve cynically concluded that a female boss presents a much easier target for an Internet hate campaign. [...] In the past 72 hours, I’ve come to truly realize what female founders and CEOs in our industry deal with every day of their lives. That it took me this long to understand is another of my many failings. The ugliness has to stop. [ It is easier, faster to bash the weaker sex. especially if the women on top is not apologetic. it seems. men + anonymity of internet and the non-attachment, non-face-to-face situation, feel the urge to say stuff like X, about Sarah Lacy and the other week about Marissa Mayer, who overslept. ]
