Legalising cannabis could be ‘win-win-win’ for UK, says thinktank | Society | The Guardian
Institute of Economic Affairs says criminalisation has failed and reform could create £1bn Margaret Thatcher’s favourite free-market thinktank has called on the government to legalise cannabis, arguing that the move could generate more than £1bn in extra tax revenues every year, as well as savings in health and other public services.

Britain’s black market in cannabis is worth £2.6bn annually, with 255 tonnes sold to more than 3 million people last year, according to the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA).

Durham police chief calls for legalisation of cannabis in UK | Society | The Guardian
“The status quo is not tenable. It’s getting worse. Drugs are getting cheaper, stronger, more readily available and more dangerous. I have come reluctantly over the years to the conclusion that we need to regulate the market. If you can regulate the market you can make sure it’s old-fashioned cannabis – not skunk or spice.”

Tory MP Crispin Blunt: 'I out myself as poppers user' | Politics | The Guardian
“I use poppers. I out myself as a poppers user. And would be directly affected by this legislation. And I was astonished to find that it’s proposed they be banned and, frankly, so were very many gay men.” Poppers are especially popular among gay men, and used to prepare for sex and enhance sexual pleasure. The proposed laws would criminalise the sale of the drug, but not those who buy it.

A Car Vlog: I Am "That" Mom - YouTube
@4:40 - RE: Food as Reward = Business as Usual (BAS). Any food that triggers some feel good chemicals can be abused: junk food, fast food, processed food, alcohol, tobacco, drugs. Some are legal others carry a stigma and others are illegal ... depending where you live. (Liberal) Progressive policy making would be to legalise all but put a progressive and aggressive tax on those. An addiction & harm tax along the nudge theory. And with that tax revenue to pay for public health care and public education campaigns to raise awareness and change perception, image and opinion. Not pulling the nanny state. But if you use tobacco, you pay twice; now with your discretionary spending choice and then with your health, and we let you know on the packaging. And we can also subsidise cycle to work schemes, cycle lanes, cycle shelters.

Dr. Carl Hart - Debunking Drug Myths | London Real - YouTube
addictive: sugar+fat mix, alcohol, tobacco, ... [...] criminalising doesn't work (deviant behaviour = Religious), have to allow it supervised (clean drugs, not stretched nor other toxic ingredients) & educate & regulate. based on the scientific evidence it is the best choice for governments pockets (less cost for police and law enforcement, as well new consumer tax source and business tax source, and local gov/councils; paying for license to sell and grow/make, oversight and regular check-ups like food safety and hygiene laws). [...] drugs are an excellent way to vilify and marginalise certain kinds of people. see relative new legal high; media manufactured consent. they are dangerous bc nobody knows what they are & what is in then & there are no clinical trials ie for establishing safety limits! as gov also established safety recommendations for alcohol [...] gov does what voters want them to do (ie both Clinton's against gay marriage) // full episode -

Kiffen: Cannabis-Verbot laut Rechtsexperte verfassungswidrig - SPIEGEL ONLINE
[PSA, eat it in form of Vegan low salt/sugar cookies, don't smoke] - Naht eine Wende in der deutschen Drogenpolitik?

New York Times fordert Legalisierung von Marihuana Cannabis - SPIEGEL ONLINE
