GoPro Isn’t Doomed Yet. But they must become a software company, fast.
GoPro needed to spend heavily in “video editing automation.”
GoPro needs software in spades, far beyond just something to make editing easier. The company that created the first mass-market visceral experience broadcasting device ought to have a hand in every dimension of the current live revolution, not just be one of its few cameras. That requires software. [...] Most consumers already have all the hardware they need to create video; what they need is software to make this infinity of images comprehensible. As the defensibility of hardware declines, GoPro has an advantage few other makers of software have: fans, tens or even hundreds of millions of them.

CEO Ambarish Mitra: independent Blippar may IPO - Business Insider
youtu.be/epMs3X8U9Ko?t=13m55s 'want's to take it all the way ... to IPO.' - Q: Is Virtual Search and Augmented Reality a feature on an existing (Search) Platform (with existing data and personal context - ie your past search history and relations (FB)) in the next 5 years or a public company? Could the extra friction of an app to launch, with the name ?blippar? be a friction point for traction!? - VS - native on iOS, Android camera app that gets into augmented reality mode when it sees a specific QR code. Time will tell. What past has show, to gain mass adoption it is about being immersive (whoa), creates emotional - chemical (dopamine) intangible value, and being sort of 'invisible' "Don't show me." and thus habit forming, // &! bit.ly/1N4a5oj

Calm down, tech journalists: It’s okay if you don’t use Snapchat | PandoDaily
artificial limitations is the trend that emerged late out of the freeze box that was SV 2001-2005/6 ... artificial limitations ie 140 charachters, ephemeral content, <10s videos, Yo, (photo)filters, ... and anonymity within the echo chamber made Secret --- and the real world broke the idea. Hot deals emerge quickly within an echo chamber, even if it doesn't end world hunger or make it rain. // This is a new phase of SV companies and tech, question is, can anyone of these be sustainable long-term world wide as big and far as they are shouting (out of the echochamber) // as fascinated as the press at large is right now, there could be, looming on the horizon, a backlash from the general population, as their livelihoods are deeply affected (work, social, democracy, ... uncertainty. people don't like uncertainty and insecurity.)
