Abnehmen: Schon leichte Reduktion fördert die Gesundheit - SPIEGEL ONLINE
5 a day? more like 7 to 10 a day // Abnehmen ist schwer: Ohne große Erfolge verlieren vor allem stark Übergewichtige leicht die Motivation.

[ eating more plants is too extreme you know ] [ because chemical created/engineered Folate is not equivalent to plant based folic acid ] In Europa gelingt es nicht, die Zahl der Babys mit offenem Rücken zu senken, das zeigt eine neue Studie. // http://nutritionfacts.org/?s=folate

NHS starts 'stem cell factory' for diabetes - BBC News
NHS Blood and Transplant wants to make and give the experimental therapy to patients at high risk of developing diabetes-related kidney problems. It is hoped the injections will slow down or stop tissue damage, removing the need for dialysis or transplants. Diabetes is the most common cause of end stage kidney disease, which kills around 40,000 people a year in the UK. The 48 patients taking part in the study will be treated at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and Belfast Health and Social Care Trust or at another trial site in Italy. The injection of cells they will receive are called stromal cells and they are grown from donated human bone marrow. These immature cells can grow and change into a variety of tissue - bone, cartilage and fat. But it is their ability to release proteins that reduce inflammation in the kidney which interests the researchers. In animal studies [shown] measurable improvements in kidney function[.] [NO CURE! Just Management.]

Immune clue to preventing schizophrenia - BBC News
[ does diet and epigentics play a role, science knows that risk is higher if you have family case. big pharma would not be amused to hear that schizophrenic schizophrenia episodes could be reduced with an anti-inflammatory diet and active lifestyle. and anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID's) do not work at the same rate and have side effects (lower efficacy) ] Brain scans found an overactive immune system in patients as well as in those at high risk of schizophrenia.

Pop star Selena Gomez diagnosed with lupus - BBC News

Speaking to Billboard magazine, the 23-year-old was scathing about the gossip websites who suggested she was addicted to drugs. "I wanted so badly to say: 'You guys have no idea. I'm in chemotherapy. You're assholes'." "I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again." Gomez went on to criticise the tabloid press, who have spent years picking apart her relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber as "vile". "I've been working since I was seven. I've been a Unicef ambassador since I was 17. It's so disappointing that I've become a tabloid story," she said.

Recorded Webinar: The Dietary Treatment of Cancer - YouTube
High-fat high-protein diets promote cancer. even vegetable fats. and both together is great environment for tumors. // thus 80/10/10 started by Doug Graham. and supported by T Collin Campbell in Whole to focus 80/10/10 macros in a Whole-Food Plant-Based Diet. // But Dr Greger also showed / talked about one study in his nutritionfacts.org videos, that even people threatened with death, are unlikely to change their diet, even if recommended by their treating physician. It's a case by case. Patient Compliance. WHY? Because people grew und and still live in an environment that is rigged against their health.

Chemistry Nobel: Lindahl, Modrich and Sancar win for DNA repair - BBC News
Their work uncovered the mechanisms used by cells to repair damaged DNA - a fundamental process in living cells and important in cancer. [...] DNA is open to an onslaught of different phenomena that can generate defects in our genomes. UV radiation and molecules known as free radicals can cause damage. Furthermore, defects can arise when DNA is copied during cell division - a process that occurs millions of times each day in our bodies. "Cigarette smoke contains small reactive chemicals, which bind to the DNA and prevent it from being replicated properly - so they are mutagens. And once there is damage in the DNA this can cause diseases including cancer," said Prof Lindahl.

BBC News - 'Half of UK people' will get cancer
One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives, analysis suggests. Cancer Research UK said this estimate, using a new calculation method, replaced a forecast of more than one in three people developing the disease. It said longer life expectancies meant more people would be affected. But it was not inevitable and improving lifestyle, such as losing weight and quitting smoking, could have a major impact, the charity added. The good news is cancer survival figures are also rising. &! Potassium salts can lower the risk of developing osteoporosis, study finds - Health News - Health & Families - The Independent
To have healthy and strong bones, eat your fruit and veggies! [...] Eating a potassium-rich diet not only maintains bone health, but it also reduces the amount of calcium and acid secreted in your urine. Lead author of the study, Dr Helen Lambert, explains the importance of maintaining this balance: “This means that excess acid is neutralised and bone mineral in preserved.”
