A Car Vlog: I Am "That" Mom - YouTube
@4:40 - RE: Food as Reward = Business as Usual (BAS). Any food that triggers some feel good chemicals can be abused: junk food, fast food, processed food, alcohol, tobacco, drugs. Some are legal others carry a stigma and others are illegal ... depending where you live. (Liberal) Progressive policy making would be to legalise all but put a progressive and aggressive tax on those. An addiction & harm tax along the nudge theory. And with that tax revenue to pay for public health care and public education campaigns to raise awareness and change perception, image and opinion. Not pulling the nanny state. But if you use tobacco, you pay twice; now with your discretionary spending choice and then with your health, and we let you know on the packaging. And we can also subsidise cycle to work schemes, cycle lanes, cycle shelters.

More maternity units closing doors, union warns - BBC News
The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) said a shortage of midwives was having a major impact and mistakes would "almost certainly be made". Some 42% of units shut down temporarily in the past year, its survey found. The government said it was determined to ensure "every mother and baby gets the highest quality care". A poll of 83 heads of midwifery at NHS trusts found there had been a rise in the number of units that had closed their doors, with 33% having closed the previous year. The RCM said budget cuts were also affecting services, with midwives struggling to cope with a rising birth rate and increasingly complex births. [...] But he added that rising numbers of complex pregnancies were also putting pressure on other UK countries. [...] The RCM says there is a shortage of 2,600 full-time midwives. 'Stretched and understaffed'

Cancer virus discovery helped by delayed flight - BBC News
Epstein Barr virus // Wikipedia - It is best known as the cause of infectious mononucleosis (glandular fever). It is also associated with particular forms of cancer, such as Hodgkin's lymphoma, Burkitt's lymphoma, gastric cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and conditions associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), such as hairy leukoplakia and central nervous system lymphomas. There is evidence that infection with EBV is associated with a higher risk of certain autoimmune diseases, especially dermatomyositis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren's syndrome, and multiple sclerosis. Some 200,000 cancer cases per year are thought to be attributable to EBV. //&! //&! Multiple Sclerosis and Autoimmune Diseases: The Impact of Diet - John McDougall, MD - - ITS THE FOOD! Cholesterol and Alzheimer’s disease - YouTube
>> medical profession may come around: what is bad for your arteries and heart is bad for your brain as new research shows. cholesterol levels do play role/correlate with "Cerebral amyloid angiopathy"/beta-amyloid formation in the brain aka brain plaques. After all, its a build up of the arteries in our brain (brain consists mostly of fat) "Cerebral amyloid angiopathy is a neurological condition in which proteins called amyloid build up on the walls of the arteries in the brain. The condition increases the risk of hemorrhagic stroke and dementia." - // And prevention is better than cure because cognitive function starts to be lost early on before medical/personal detection of the condition. // LDL cholestero may be able to cross blood brain barrier. Like the leaky gut thing (induced by consumption of animal products). //

Hidden Danger for Pregnant Moms | Inspired Bites
BVO contains bromine, which is known to interfere with thyroid function. Even more frightening, it is found in the brominated flame retardants that are used in upholstered furniture and children’s products, which I wrote about in a previous blog. Research has found that brominated flame retardants build up in the body and breast milk. BVO leaves residues that accumulate in body fat, the brain, the liver, and other organs. Studies in animals demonstrate that BVO is transferred from mother’s milk to the nursing infant. BVO has been associated with heart lesions, fatty changes in the liver, and impaired growth and behavioral development, and both animal and human studies have linked BVO to neurological problems, fertility problems, changes in thyroid hormones and precocious puberty. + +
