Front-line police being 'tucked away' from communities - BBC News
A report has warned that neighbourhood policing in parts of England and Wales is at risk because officers are having to carry out other duties away from their local communities. HM Inspectorate of Constabulary says in some cases, front-line teams are spending as little as half their time on the beat.

Police 'should be neutral' in sex abuse inquiries, says Met head - BBC News
Whitehall / Celebrities / &! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotherham_child_sexual_exploitation_scandal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_sex_gang among others. // The NSPCC said it was "deeply disturbed" by the suggested change of police approach to sexual abuse victims. "At a time when people have at long last found the confidence and courage to report these crimes it would be a tragedy to bring this progress to a juddering halt. "Telling those who have been sexually abused they will no longer be automatically believed seems to be a panic measure which could have an adverse effect on a crime the government has classified as a 'national threat.'"

Cheryl James Deepcut death: New sexual exploitation claims - BBC News
"The inquest will now be a matter for the coroner, but we will of course continue to cooperate with and provide support to the coroner where needed." Lawyers from human rights campaign group Liberty have asked the coroner, Brian Barker QC, to allow the new witnesses to give evidence and he is expected to make a decision on Monday. Des James's solicitor Emma Norton said: "We have made an application to the coroner to investigate evidence that has come to light that appears to suggest there might have been a system of ordering recruits to have sex with other staff. "We have had a witness come forward to say Cheryl herself disclosed to him that she had been ordered to have sex with another soldier. [...] Pte James, from Llangollen, was one of four soldiers who died at the barracks between 1995 and 2002 amid claims of bullying and abuse.

Met police chief warns scale of cuts threatens safety of public | UK news | The Guardian
Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, the UK’s most senior officer, says London force would be less able to deal with terrorism or riots [...] “It’s a lot of money and a massive change and as a result of that, I genuinely worry about the safety of London. We think we can expect to lose somewhere between 5,000 to 8,000 police officers.” The Met, which is Britain’s largest force, was expecting to have to save £800m by 2020 because of government funding cuts. But late last week it found out it may have to lose another £180m because of a Home Office change in the way money is shared among the forces across England and Wales. Hogan-Howe said: “We are having to face today’s and tomorrow’s challenges with resources going back to the 1970s. That’s when London had a population of around six million, today we are 8.6 million and we believe it will rise to about nine million in 2020.”

Pressure mounts over claims Police Scotland breached rules over spying on journalists (From Herald Scotland)
PRESSURE is mounting on ministers to take action on Police Scotland amid further criticism of the force over claims it illegally spied on a journalist to uncover sources. The force's elite Counter Corruption Unit (CCU) is said to have snooped on the reporter without getting judicial approval - a tactic which was banned on March 25 following a row over officers using the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (Ripa) to access journalists’ phone records, texts and emails. // [ endemic and systemic! you are not safe. period. ] // &! bbc.in/1OQEaGJ - Ministers questioned over Police Scotland 'spying' claims // &! bbc.in/1KUFPu9 &! bbc.in/1Maojno << time to get their story right!?

So titelt beispielhaft der Telegraph in Anlehnung an eine Aussage der britischen Innenministerin Theresa May: Thousands of lives at risk after High Court rules snooping powers unlawful. // theguardian.com/world/surveillance - bit.ly/1fa4mQP // &! bit.ly/1CMnrUg &! bit.ly/1DoKqiZ - Why appeasing governments over encryption will never work. David Cameron & the director of the FBI have both asked for ‘backdoors’ to be included in encryption software [...] Keys Under Doormats: Mandating insecurity by requiring government access to all data and communications, is worth reading in full. It concludes that proposals for backdoors are “unworkable in practice, raise enormous legal and ethical questions, and would undo progress on security at a time when internet vulnerabilities are causing extreme economic harm”.

DSK and Dodo the Pimp: Sex and power in France - Newsnight - YouTube
complicit and impunity - see same in UK with abuse scandals and paedophiles up and down Britain's Society and especially Westminster - and Met Police looking away during recent history till back then during Thatcher's time and maybe even way back even more. What a picture of society and what it means in a persons life to have "power." And also include the Church! Sure, back then paedophiles, rapists and abusers of any kind often got away with it more or less because of the stigma as victim (you brought this on you) and the lack (non existent) of prosecution and support. Dark ages. Dark ages. That is recent history. Just one generation. Thinking about it is abhorring - that these people still shape our life's to some extent.
