The Dispute Between Radical Feminism and Transgenderism
AND here the critique http://bit.ly/1tXlqLW & http://bit.ly/1ujpPJ9 // http://bit.ly/V1UxtS // http://bit.ly/1orNN4F // "In failing to provide a semblance of balance to the voices in the piece, this account becomes hopelessly skewed, and becomes little more than a radical feminist propaganda piece. Early on in her essay, Goldberg presents an extremely simplified and stereotyped view of trans women’s identities. She writes: “Trans women say that they are women because they feel female — that, as some put it, they have women’s brains in men’s bodies.” First, considering that the length of the article discusses trans people (and focuses heavily on trans women), to reduce the explanation of their complex experiences to three words — “they feel female” — is offensively reductionist. While such a passing nod to trans experiences might be not be out of place in a more LGBTQ-geared publication, in a more general consumption magazine[.]" + http://bit.ly/VkWUIA + http://huff.to/1Bo9aJr

GitHub Apologizes for Secrecy Around Harassment Allegations | Re/code
The tone of GitHub’s response has gone from defensive to super apologetic. >> "“Last Monday I published the least open and least transparent blog post GitHub has ever written. We failed to admit and own up to our mistakes, and for that I’m sorry. GitHub has a reputation for being transparent and taking responsibility for our actions, but last week we did neither. There’s no excuse. We can do a lot better.” + Add the wifes response = https://medium.com/my-side-of-the-story/2fe173c44215

Julie Ann Horvath on GitHub Investigation: “How Do You Sleep at Night?” | Re/code
according to her, internal investigation was a sham. + Preston-Warner Threatens Legal Action in Github Scandal Fallout ( http://recode.net/2014/04/21/as-horvath-accusations-continue-preston-werner-threatens-legal-action/ ) + GitHub Clears President Tom Preston-Werner, but He Resigns Anyway After Harassment Controversy http://recode.net/2014/04/21/github-ceo-tom-preston-werner-resigns/ + http://techcrunch.com/2014/03/15/julie-ann-horvath-describes-sexism-and-intimidation-behind-her-github-exit/ "In short, Horvath said that she felt she was being treated differently internally simply due to her gender and not the quality of her work. She calls her colleagues’ response to her own work and the work of other female GitHub employees a “serious problem.” Despite GitHub hiring more female developers, Horvath said she struggled to feel welcome." + http://www.businessinsider.com/julie-ann-horvath-github-harassment-twitter-2014-4 +++ http://youtu.be/BxyJlP4MEa8?t=16m5s

GitHub co-founder resigns after investigation into harassment claims | The Verge
Horvath claimed to have experienced sexism and gender-based harassment at GitHub. She also spoke out about Preston-Werner and his wife, who she says personally harassed her for two years, the former berating her in his office and the latter stalking her at work. According to Horvath, the Preston-Warners were apparently concerned that she would undermine the company's reputation, perhaps due to her outspokenness on the issues around women in tech. + http://www.theverge.com/2014/3/19/5526574/github-sexism-scandal-julie-ann-horvath + http://www.theverge.com/2014/3/19/5526574/github-sexism-scandal-julie-ann-horvath + http://techcrunch.com/search/Julie+Ann+Horvath#stq=Julie Ann+Horvath&stp=1 "" GitHub was generally female-friendly, but her team felt like a boy’s club. She felt increasingly aware of "how little the men I worked with respected and valued my opinion" and observed the same thing happening to her female co-workers. ""
