He told BBC Radio Scotland: "The two HPV types we were vaccinating against - HPV 16 and HPV 18 - cause about 70% to 80% of cervical cancers within Scotland but the vaccine has exceeded our expectations because it appears to have knocked out another three high-risk HPV types which cause about 10% of cervical cancers.

BBC News - 'Half of UK people' will get cancer
One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives, analysis suggests. Cancer Research UK said this estimate, using a new calculation method, replaced a forecast of more than one in three people developing the disease. It said longer life expectancies meant more people would be affected. But it was not inevitable and improving lifestyle, such as losing weight and quitting smoking, could have a major impact, the charity added. The good news is cancer survival figures are also rising. &! Cancer diagnosis rate of 1,000 per day to 'push NHS to limit' The NHS will be "pushed to its limit" by the end of 2016 by rising numbers of cancer patients, a charity says. Americans Clearly Don't Understand How Deadly HPV Is
Last month, the CDC reported the most recent results of its teen immunization survey. The numbers were discouraging. Fewer than 60% of girls had started the HPV vaccination series. Only 38% had finished it. The numbers for boys, whom the CDC also recommends should receive the vaccination, are markedly worse.

Topical vitamin A treatment of recalcitrant common warts.
Topical vitamin A has been shown to be a successful treatment of common warts in prior informal studies.

Daily topical application of natural vitamin A derived from fish liver oil (25,000 IU) led to replacement of all the warts with normal skin. Most of the smaller warts had been replaced by 70 days. A large wart on the middle knuckle required 6 months of vitamin A treatment to resolve completely.

Vorsorge: Impfung gegen Gebärmutterhalskrebs bleibt umstritten - SPIEGEL ONLINE

Gardasil Wins Backing for Routine Use in Boys - Bloomberg
Merck & Co.’s Gardasil vaccine, used to protect girls from a virus that causes cervical cancer, should also be given to 11- or 12-year-old boys to reduce transmission of the infection, a U.S. advisory panel said.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s immunization committee recommended routine vaccinations for boys to protect against cancers related to human papillomavirus, or HPV, the Atlanta-based agency said today in an e-mail.

YouTube - ‪The Battle Against Cancer - HPV researchers carrying on the work of a Nobel winner | Tomorrow Today‬‏
Cervical cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer among women. Particularly in countries where preventive treatment is limited, it can also be a frequent cause of death. But there is a new hope thanks to the research work of Harald zur Hausen, who won the 2008 Nobel Prize for Medicine for showing that cervical cancer is caused by viruses. This insight led to the development of a vaccine that aims to prevent infection from the tumor viruses. Now Austrian immunologist Angelika Riemer has taken up the challenge of continuing zur Hausen's work. She and her team in Heidelberg are developing a vaccine that is also effective after infection, by locating the tumor virus and rendering it harmless.
