// Book Lars Geiges, Stine Marg, Franz Walter: Pegida. Die schmutzige Seite der Zivilgesellschaft?

Alberto Salazar's response: What questions remain? - BBC News
Salazar has demanded the BBC retracts its allegations. The BBC says it stands by the journalism in the programme. Within two hours of his open letter going online, it was reported that the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) had been investigating allegations that Salazar had skirted anti-doping rules. The reports suggested USADA had taken statements from more than 12 witnesses. The BBC now understands that at least six former Oregon Project members have been contacted by USADA in the past month, and that an inquiry into Salazar is being led by chief USADA investigator Bill Bock. USADA does not confirm investigations. [...] The BBC understands USADA is also investigating allegations that Salazar skirted anti-doping.

If People Understood This One Thing, We Would Have Revolution Overnight - YouTube
Martin Luther King, Jr. was working towards a guaranteed basic income for all when he was killed. Wealth inequality, neoliberalism, the actions of the Federal Reserve, along with the greed and theft of the global elite have made the call for a guaranteed basic income for all even more urgent in 2014 than in the 1960s. [...] In his new book, The Economics of Revolution, DeGraw writes: “Having that much wealth consolidated within a mere 1% of the population, while a record number of people toil in poverty and debt, is a crime against humanity. For example, it would only cost 0.5% of the 1%’s wealth to eliminate poverty nationwide. Also consider that at least 40% of the 1%’s accounted for wealth is sitting idle. That’s an astonishing $13 trillion in wealth hoarded away, unused.” In this clip from the full 30-minute interview, DeGraw points out that the Federal Reserve is already printing money and giving it away to the financial elite.

So, frequently we make approximations. We cut corners. We omit terms and equations to get things that are simple enough to suit our purposes and meet our needs. The Fundamental Fallacy of Modern Recruiting | TechCrunch
Engineers in most firms today are also supposed to know at least something about product design, marketing, and customer support for those top-paying enterprise clients. Purely technical roles still exist of course, but they tend to congregate away from consumer and enterprise software into areas such as embedded systems. Interdisciplinary skills may be the hallmark of the modern engineer, but it is precisely that broad and ambiguous skillset that complicates hiring. [...] [HR/Recruiters] have an impossible job looking for these unicorn employees. When we combine the increasing ambiguity of our jobs with the increasing distance of HR recruiters from the actual work taking place, you get everything that is wrong with modern recruiting. [...] [ Founder team should ] take an active role in ensuring that the right employees are being hired. [ And not outsourcing at first chance. ]

"Mental health at NHS is poor relations of poor relations" to quote Conservative MP // The biggest challenge facing the NHS is ... unrealistic expectations. With an ageing population, increasingly complex healthcare needs and more sophisticated medical interventions now available to us, we need to re-set our expectations of the NHS, which also means re-evaluating the demands we make on NHS staff. Doctors 'having to apologise 20 times a day' for politicians’ broken promises | Society | The Guardian
In a searing attack on the government’s NHS plans, Dr Mark Porter warned that politicians were “living a lie” because of the gulf between their ambition to turn it into a seven-day service and the reality of too few doctors, hospitals and GP surgeries under pressure and budget cuts. Porter, the chair of council of the British Medical Association, used his keynote address to the doctors’ union’s annual conference in Liverpool to highlight what one hospital medic had recently told its online discussion forum: “The most stressful thing is having to say ‘sorry’ 20 times a day for something that isn’t my fault. ‘“Your appointment has been delayed? Sorry. Your operation has been cancelled? Sorry. Every day, I see my patients’ frustration with the health service and I am having to apologise’,” [...] there are two health services. The one that politicians say they’ll provide, and the one they actually do.” &! Rationing Care - bit.ly/1GlS4Mj

Hate crime is everyday reality for rural LGBT people, study says | Society | The Guardian
LGBT people in Britain’s rural towns and villages are being bullied relentlessly because of their sexuality, leaving some too scared to leave the house, according to an expert in hate crime. Stevie-Jade Hardy, a lecturer at the University of Leicester’s Centre for Hate Studies and the author of a report on hate crime, said harassment and verbal abuse was an everyday reality for many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. She said LGBT people were being left “lonely and isolated with nowhere to turn”, but many did not report hate crimes because they feared that the police would not take them seriously or that they would be “outed” to their families. [...] it tended to be those more everyday experiences that are incredibly difficult to deal with – that drip-drip effect.”
