It's long past time for the Chron to focus on what it does fairly well at times (local reporting) and drop what it's horrible at (opinion writing/making)

He asked for well more than he knew he needed, and now looks like a 'hero' for cutting it back.

These types of things are in his wheelhouse. Running a city? Not so much.

The media, supposed to provide a check on government, supports them writing a blank check. #ShutterTheEdBoard
One of the main reasons for the public distrust of media is their total abandonment of their primary role: acting as a check on government.

Instead the Chron Ed Board wants unlimited government (and taxation of others) while checking private citizens and industry.

It's past time to shutter the ed board and the entire opinion apparatus at the Chron (and other newspapers)
