Thursday Throwdown: 2014 Muscle Cars - CARFAX Blog
In today’s Thursday Throwdown, we’re looking at muscle cars. These are performance cars in the American tradition of focusing on muscular looks and power rather than cornering and sport. The term “muscle car” is loosely defined, so we’re narrowing it by including only models from the Detroit makes that are both muscular in performance and stylistically and/or historically tied to the popular muscle cars of the 1970s.

Best Dog-Friendly Vehicles - CARFAX Blog
We use our vehicles for many things, often looking to them as an extension of our lifestyle and sometimes even a member of the family. Some people buy vehicles because they’re sporty, others because they’re rugged, and still others because they are good family haulers or get great fuel economy. Some of us, though, have a certain four-legged friend in mind when we purchase a vehicle.

Automotive Maintenance Schedule and Intervals | CARFAX
Car owners enjoy their rides and the benefits they offer, one of which is reliable transportation. The way to keep that reliability is to do the regular, scheduled maintenance for the car. The owner's manual for most cars has specifics for the vehicle in question, but as a general rule, knowing the service intervals for most vehicles helps at least keep your calendar updated, especially in multi-car households. Below is a fast checklist of service intervals and maintenance requirements followed by a more in-depth look at each item and brief information for those interested in doing some of this maintenance themselves.

Presidential Cars, Past and Present - CARFAX Blog
This President’s Day, we remember and honor the men who’ve taken the oath of office and held the highest elected position in this country. The office of president is contentious, to say the least, and the hot seat in the Oval Office is not for the politically squeamish. Whatever you think of the men who’ve held the position, you have to admire their willingness to be (alternatively) the most revered and most hated person in the country, depending on the political climate of the time.

Just as interesting as the men who’ve held office, however, are the cars they’ve had before, during, and after their stint in the White House. Here we present a hand-picked list of Presidential Cars that are some of the most interesting automobiles to occupy presidential commutes.

Electric Car Adoption: Not Why You Think - CarNewsCafe.com
In the past, I’ve written about both the lack of innovation in the auto industry and Tesla Motors. Researching Tesla revealed many things. The physical, technical, and practical advantages of electric versus internal combustion cars are plentiful and amazing.

Yes, I’m convinced that the transition to fully electric cars is indeed inevitable. But electric car adoption won’t happen for the reasons most people think—and it has nothing to do with helping the environment, running out of oil, or making the world a better place. While those are valid arguments that are well-and-good for the media and proponents of such voltage-based transport tech, they will have little to do with the success of all-electric personal transportation in the United States.

2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Is A Muscular Cruiser - Guys Gab
Let’s face it, most comebacks suck. The new Superman? Sucked. 1970’s fashion? Still sucks. Brian Williams delivering honest news? OK, we probably never saw that..

One thing that made a killer comeback, though, was the Dodge Challenger. The Challenger first appeared in the late 1960s as Chrysler’s answer to the pony cars of the day. The 1969 and 1970 Challenger may be the most recognizable muscle car of the period. Then the oil crisis, government fuel economy restrictions, and so forth all but destroyed the muscle car boom. For a period, the challenger became a cheap, knockoff rebadged Mitsubishi. This nearly destroyed its powerful name.

CV Drive Axle Replacement
On a front-wheel or all-wheel drive car, the CV axle may require replacement if the CV joint(s) have gone bad. You may also need to pull it if the car has a "shudder" that is not due to bad brakes or tire imbalance - in which case, it may be the axle weights coming loose, which you can check by hand by simply grabbing them and seeing if they move around.

The Idler Arms and Pitman Arms in your steering system connect the center link to the steering box and hub assemblies. These two work together to create strength and tight connections in steering while retaining open movement when you turn the wheel.

Cylinder heads 101
The cylinder heads are the top-most portion of the engine. They sit atop the combustion chambers, creating their "caps" (top) on the engine block. On most modern automotive engines, the cylinder head(s) also contain the air and fuel intake ports, exhaust ports, mounting for spark plugs, contain the valves, and house the camshaft(s). The cylinder head in can thus become not only critical to the engine's operation during combustion and exhaust, but also to its timing.

Cleaning the fuel injectors is not a difficult job, but it does require some knowledge, the right tools, and a little time. Chances are, if your car was made in or is sold in the U.S., you can clean the fuel injectors without anything more than a proper cleaning kit and a wrench that fits on your fuel rail's access point.
