Resizing Windows - Learning the vi and Vim Editors, 7th Edition [Book]
clicking the bottom of the gvim frame makes the window one line smaller. Cause unclear so far, but looks like a mapping to "Ctrl-W Minus"

"CTRL-W- decreases the current window height by one line. Vim also has an ex command that lets you decrease the window size explicitly. For example, the command resize -4 decreases the current window by four lines and gives those lines to the window below it."

Fix black inner border around gVim windows: set Vim's guiheadroom option to 0
I was seeing a thin, black inner border around my gVim windows that would appear, for example, after resizing the window and disappear again, for example, after setting the colorscheme. It was annoying to have to re-set the colorscheme to get rid of this border after every time I resized the window or opened a new split or tab etc.

Adding `set guiheadroom=0` to my vimrc fixed it.

[Via ArchWiki](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Vim#Empty_space_at_the_bottom_of_gvim_windows).

Update: not a complete fix, the border still appears sometimes.

windows - set gvim font in .vimrc file - Stack Overflow
Add to _gvimrc :
set guifont=Consolas:h11:cANSI

I use the following (Uses Consolas size 11 on Windows, Menlo Regular size 14 on Mac OS X and Inconsolata size 12 everywhere else):

if has("gui_running")
if has("gui_gtk2")
set guifont=Inconsolata\ 12
elseif has("gui_macvim")
set guifont=Menlo\ Regular:h14
elseif has("gui_win32")
set guifont=Consolas:h11:cANSI
