Where to find HW Fast & Furious Original Fast so far. – theLamleyGroup
Yes, many of the sets I preview come from Mattel. They send them because I have an audience, and it’s a great way to get the word out on new product.
But sometimes I find stuff in store first. That happened yesterday.

Showcase: Hot Wheels Premium Fast & Furious Original Fast – theLamleyGroup
Let’s get this out of the way. I am not a big fan of the decos on these five cars. The colors are a bit dated, the graphics as well, and in many ways they take away from the cars they are plastered on.
But that doesn’t matter in the least. A) because who cares what I think and B) this is the way they are supposed to look. They are replicas of five of the cars in the original Fast & Furious, and these are the decos they sported.
And even with the opinion I have about them, I am sure thankful for them. Because if we don’t have this series, or this film franchise, or these decos, we don’t have a Hot Wheels S14, ’95 Eclipse, or Jetta.
And that is what is key. I have mentioned numerous times that the most fun I get out of the Fast & Furious movies is watching them with friends the way the human and robots watch old corny movies on Mystery Science Theater 3000. They are goofy, ridiculous, and nonsensical. And I get while many argue they have ruined many aspects of car culture as much as helped it.
But what can’t be argued is that while the Fast & Furious movies have moved from a testosterone contest to Ocean’s 11 with muscles, a lot of cool cars have made appearances. And that is why Hot Wheels taking the Car Culture premium approach to their Fast & Furious line is so exciting. It has brought us some fantastic Hot Wheels.

Watch Fast Five’s Stunt Coordinator Break Down Its Breathtaking Vault Chase
As you all already know, I am a Fast and Furious stan. I love everything about those stupid movies, but there is not one scene I love more than the vault-dragging scene from Fast Five. It’s a classic, breathless action sequence and finally I get to see it broken down bit-by-bit by its stunt coordinator.
If you haven’t seen Fast Five (and boy, are you missing out) the film’s climactic scene involves Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner dragging a stolen vault filled with $100 million through the streets of Rio using two matte black Dodge Chargers. There’s plenty of crashing and smashing and it’s effin’ great.
Earlier this week, Vanity Fair published an interview with Jack Gill, the stunt coordinator who worked on the vault scene from the film. Right away, he answered one of the burning questions I had when I first saw the scene: they actually dragged a 9,000-pound vault around. It was real.
And that bank building the vault smashed through? It was a specially built structure designed to be destroyed. The crew laid a huge track through the floor of the building and loaded the vault onto an enormous ram that sent it tumbling through.
Those are just two gems from the interview, which spans about 20 minutes. You should watch the whole thing, and then watch the finished product again. Behind-the-scenes stuff like this is awesome.

New for 2019: Fast & Furious Premium Assortment
Ask any racer, any real racer … there’s nothing like the Fast & Furious film franchise to capture the insanity (and by insanity, we mean awesomeness) of street racing. But it’s about family, too, and we like to think of Fast & Furious as part of ours. For 2019, the family is growing with an entirely new Fast & Furious lineup: Fast & Furious Premium Assortment!
Packed with premium vehicles rolling on Real Riders wheels, new mixes will be released throughout 2019. Every car has appeared in one of the films, and you can look forward to new cars that have never been released as Hot Wheels. The first mix focuses on ferocious imports, including not one, but two Nissan GT-R vehicles!
Wondering what to do while you’re waiting for the next Fast & Furious flick to arrive in theaters? Gather up your own family, pile into your street-legal 1:1, and head out to your favorite retailer in late December when Mix 1 starts hitting the pegs!

Watch Trailer for Fast and Furious Spinoff Hobbs & Shaw | Video | Consequence of Sound
"‘I’m what ya call a nice cold can of whup ass," says our future Commander in Chief
The first of what may lead to several Fast and Furious spinoffs finds future U.S. president Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprising their characters from Fast Five and onward in the aptly titled Fast and Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw.
Today, Universal has released the first teaser trailer ahead of Super Bowl LIII, which finds the two blockbuster stars hooking up to solve a mystery and take down the villainous Idris Elba. You gotta love the remixed version of War’s “Why Can’t We Be Friends”.
After all, they’re family! Watch below.
In addition to Johnson, Statham, and Elba, Hobbs and Shaw stars Vanessa Kirby, Roman Reigns, Eiza Gonzalez, Eddie Marsan, Cliff Curtis, and Helen Mirren. Director David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2) works from a screenplay written by go-to Furious screenwriter Chris Morgan.
Hobbs and Shaw hit the gas on August 2nd.

The Rock, Jason Statham Go Wild in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw - The Drive
While the ninth Fast & Furious movie is still over a year away and won't likely feature Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the car-themed action franchise's Hobbs & Shaw spinoff will be out this summer and, as you may have gathered from the title, will include Johnson as former DSS agent and human wrecking ball Luke Hobbs.
The trailer dropped Friday and it's, um, really something. Without spoiling anything, those who think the series should go back to its humble, street racing roots should probably look away.
Yes, this the same franchise that started out with Honda Civic VCR heists and somewhat tyrannical L.A. gangbangers for antagonists. Get over it.
Hobbs & Shaw's titular heroes will be squaring off against a McLaren-driving literal superhuman, pulling off stunts that wouldn't look out of place in a Captain America movie. Played by Idris Elba, supervillain Brixton is—per Universal's provided synopsis—a "cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist who gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever." We wouldn't be surprised if that exact phrase could be found verbatim somewhere in the archives of Marvel or DC.
Judging from the trailer, much of this movie's runtime will likely be devoted to humorous situations stemming from Hobbs and Shaw's supposedly contrasting personalities and work ethic. On top of a comic-worthy villain, Hobbs & Shaw looks like it'll contain all of the whimsy of a modern Marvel movie as well—and by Marvel movie we're talking Ragnarok, not Infinity War.
In case you weren't sold yet, Helen Mirren has been confirmed to return as Jason Statham's mother.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw will be in theaters Aug. 2.

A stellar R32 Skyline kicks off the Car Culture-inspired Fast & Furious line – theLamleyGroup
Duh. This is how it should have always been.
It just seems perfect. A Hot Wheels Fast & Furious Premium line. Seems like we should be in at least year five of this. But it was worth the wait. Five years ago, it would have been the same cars that we saw repeated over and over again in the Walmart lines: existing castings done up in FnF decos.
In order to get what just debuted, we needed Car Culture to thrive first. Mattel and retailers needed to see how successful a collector-aimed premium line with a wide variety of models in realistic decos could do. And what they have seen is a line that continues to sell and sell well.
That set the stage for what is essentially an extension of Car Culture. Featuring cars from the Fast & Furious universe means a wide variety of cars, from muscle to JDM to Euro to Supercars from stock to classic. It’s like a microcosm of Car Culture.
And here we have Mix 1, called Fast Imports, with several themed assortments to follow. It is easy to note that Fast Imports is heavy on JDM, but I think there is a more interesting way to look at it. Two of the cars are distinctly FnF. The R34 and S15 sport decos that were specific to the movie, and have become iconic in their own right. The other three could pass in ANY Hot Wheels line. A black R32, stock Lamborghini, and classic Escort. And that is what makes this line so cool.

The Truth Behind What Caused Paul Walker's Fatal Crash - The Drive
The likely cause is so mundane we never talk about it. Let's change that.
Your tires are the most important part of your car. They can make you faster, they can save your life, or they can get you killed, even if you’re the star of a major car-centric action franchise, and even if you aren’t driving. (Spoiler alert: the driver dies too).
Considering how important tires are, they aren’t given nearly enough credit in the media or in car-guy circles. Sure, every racer talks about tires, and a lot of canyon warriors will sit on top of the snake talking setup, but on the internet and in casual conversation with casual enthusiasts, tires are a dull topic. You certainly can’t brag about them on a forum the way you can with your upgraded turbo and fresh dyno chart. You have to go into the Grassroots Motorsports catalog, or to a very specific sub-genre to see a tire comparison test for your desired application, so most people just end up reading reviews on TireRack.
Tires are a dull topic even when we’re actively shopping for tires. They have insanely complicated naming schemes like GoodRubber GoodGripper Pro XGV25, which makes them even harder to discuss than Infiniti’s current lineup. In all seriousness, I have a set of tires on my Mustang at the moment called “Continental ContiForce Contact.” That’s a real name under which a real set of tires is marketed. Most people don’t have the luxury of actually testing tires before they buy either, making decisions based on either anecdotal evidence, a roll of the dice, budget, or a combination of the three.

Dwayne Johnson Disputes Veracity of “Snowflake” Comments | Music News | Consequence of Sound
"The interview never took place, never happened, never said any of those words"
Earlier today UK tabloid The Daily Star published comments attributed to Dwayne Johnson in which the actor expressed his disdain for the current generation of “snowflakes.” “If you are not agreeing with them, then they are offended — and that is not what so many great men and women fought for,” Johnson was quoted as saying. “People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want. That can only be a good thing — but generation snowflake, or whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.”
Now, Johnson has taken to Instagram to dispute the veracity of the purported comments. “Earlier today online, an interview dropped, apparently it was with me, where I was insulting and criticizing millennials. The interview never took place, never happened, never said any of those words,” Johnson says in the video. “Completely untrue. 100 percent fabricated.”

The 10 Most Anticipated Sequels of 2019 | Lists | Consequence of Sound
LEGOs, John Wick, and three generations of Shaft are among the big returns this year
Sequels are the engine on which Hollywood runs, at least these days. Studios are so thoroughly gun-shy about the prospect of handing nine figures to any unproven property that to get the kind of money that makes money, you have to have been there before. We’ve talked in recent days about some of the reboots that are going to flood the market in 2019, but today (for the final leg of our year-in-preview film week), we’re going to talk about the direct continuations of some of film’s biggest franchises.
This year, we get new entries from the small multicolored brick department, the Keanu Reeves kills strangers department, and a new installment of the biggest non-Marvel franchise going these days, which Disney also owns. You’ve seen a lot of Disney all week through our film previews, and you’ll see a bit more here, but they’re hardly the only big player involved in this year’s crop of soon-to-be megahits. We’ll have more giant monsters, more people in Black, and even the third-generation revival of a renowned everyday hero.

HW Fast & Furious is coming. Here is the S15 Silvia. – theLamleyGroup
Here is my promise: I am going to show the cars. Hopefully preview a few like I am today.
Here is what I can’t promise: That I will get all the Fast & Furious references right.
This car is called the Mona Lisa. I know because I saw it in the comments on Instagram. I can’t even remember what movie it is from. I have seen the movies, and I really enjoyed them, but probably for reasons different than many. A good campy movie that consists of overbulged muscles, bad dialogue, and 60-mile airport runways is a great way to spend an evening. The cars are the bonus.
So I remember a lot of the cars from the later movies, but not from the earlier movies. But I do know that Mattel is VERY serious about this set, and there is some awesome stuff coming. If you have wished it, there is a very good chance you will see it in this line. And I plan on covering it if Mattel continues to let me.
They did let me take pics of the S15 Silvia. And it was pretty cool. Sadly I didn’t have the Forza Silvia at the time to take comparison pics, but that isn’t a huge deal. I am sure we will all be able to do that soon.
For now, enjoy.

So…are you excited about the new Hot Wheels Fast & Furious Premium line? – theLamleyGroup
It really is a no-brainer. Take the Fast & Furious license that Mattel has been taking advantage of a ton the last few years, and put it to its best use in a Car Culture-like line.
And it is finally here. The first mix of Fast & Furious Premium will be out next month, and there is no doubt it will be a super popular line. The first mix is “Fast Imports” and mixes in JDM and Euro models. Mattel released the art images a few days ago...

It’s official: A Fast & Furious Premium Line is coming to Hot Wheels – theLamleyGroup
The biggest Hot Wheels no-brainer has finally been realized, and now officially announced...
Fast & Furious has toiled around in all kinds of corners of Mattel. First as additions to the Hot Wheels basic range, then as special Walmart exclusive basic subsets, then here and there in HW Entertainment, and finally in peg-warming purgatory as a larger scale line.
We all knew where it needed to hit. As a special premium line a la Car Culture. And guess what? It is happening. The first mix of what will be a crazy popular line has been unveiled with much more to come.
The cool thing about this line is its approach. Obviously the focus is premium versions of cars from the movies, but they can be the cars that were prominently featured or not. That means the line will serve not only as a promotion for the movies, but show a nice cross section of cool cars, just like Car Culture.
And that is why the first mix is focused on imports. Other mixes will feature other themes. And yeah, I am going to collect them all. And yeah, feature them too.
