Our modern world is driven by Open Source software. It runs on every computer, every smartphone or tablet and all your favorite apps would not run without it. It is developed mainly by volunteers and by hobbyists around the world, those geeks among your friends that love their computers more than hanging out with you. Open Source software is free and common property and allows everyone to use it and alter it to their needs. It relies on collective intelligence instead of the standards imposed by superiors. All this work is done for free! Utopian however rewards everyone who contributes to such projects, as long as a certain standard of quality is met.

D.Tube is the first crypto-decentralized video platform, built on top of the STEEM Blockchain and the IPFS peer-to-peer network.
Crypto incentive
D.Tube aims to become an alternative to YouTube that allows you to watch or upload videos on IPFS and share or comment about it on the immutable STEEM Blockchain, while earning cryptocurrency doing it.

Resistant to censorship
Because of the decentralized nature of IPFS and the STEEM blockchain, D.Tube is not able to censor videos, nor enforce guidelines. Only the users can censor it, through the power of their upvotes and downvotes.

A fair platform
On DTube, there are no hidden algorithms controlling the visibility or monetization of certain videos over others. All of DTube's data is public, and can be analyzed by anyone with an internet connection.

Ads free
To deliver the best user experience D.Tube runs without advertising. Users remain free to advertise any product or service they would like, directly inside their own videos, at their own risk of losing their subscribers.

Freedom Controller
Freedom from what, you ask? Big internet companies storing, parsing and owning your knowledge. Once you read something, or see something, that knowledge belongs to you.

Control your knowledge flow, and do something awesome with it.

Follow newsfeeds and social outlines through the river-style rss/atom/opml aggregator. We have created a new namespace for opml and rss called SOPML that allows people to turn their opml reading lists into a social graph. We call them social outlines.

The readability feature saves clean copies of articles you read from right in the news river. You can then go back and pull up a copy of any article you've read later or search for saved articles by keywords.

The microblog feature allows easy sharing into an RSS feed and to Twitter with multiple enclosure support. There are also many ways to export your saved articles and microblog data out into OPML format for editing or safe keeping.

Welcome to – a part of the federated1 microblog commons!
We are a federation of microbloggers who care about social justice and solidarity and want to quit the centralised capitalist services.

This is the place for you who are tired of private companies controlling your conversations and contacts and selling them for profit. On you are not locked up in a single commercial service; here you can follow and talk to microbloggers from the whole open GNU social network.2 Together we seize the means of communication, and create real democracy online. is not a service, because we're not selling commodities.3 Instead we call it an online commons.4 The site is run by the small Swedish non-profit organisation En Kompis Kompis5 which is solely funded by donations. All work is voluntary. Joining is completely free, but those who want to help out financially can donate to the organisation.6

Decolinization: Indigeneity, Education & Society
Decolonization: Indigeneity, Education & Society is an undisciplinary, peer-reviewed, online Open Access journal committed to supporting and advancing decolonization scholarship, practice, and activism within and, more importantly, beyond and against, the academy. We believe in connecting decolonization struggles across locations and experiences, in connecting academics, activists, and artists - and their production - within larger communities of decolonial struggle, and connecting knowledge production to histories of resistance to colonial power; we believe in a lived out decolonial praxis. Decolonization is not new and we do not aspire to meet the academic demand for new and invigorating paradigms; it is not the academy we are interested in invigorating. Instead, we seek to ground decolonization in the lived experiences and histories of those individuals and communities that have and are living out decolonization, seeking to invigorate connections, struggles, and knowledges that reside beyond the academy.

SyncNet: A Decentralized Web Browser
SyncNet is an experimental new browser built on top of BitTorrent Sync and (soon) Colored Coins. Every time you access a site, you store all of its contents on your machine. The next user to request the site can get the contents from both your machine and the original server. As more people access a page, it becomes available from more machines, reducing the load on the original server.

Imagine an internet slightly different than what we have today. The internet of the future won't require logging in with passwords on every site you wish to access. It will just know who you are. An internet where you need to keep track of hundreds/thousands of passwords on hundreds/thousands of websites is fundamentally broken. But an internet with no privacy and where all your online activities are monitored and tracked is likewise broken.

Imagine if you had an internet where the people using it could create new services and communicate freely and privately - and where you didn't need a different account on every website in the network in order to use each website. Where you had your own space and could share anything you wanted with anybody you wanted, any time you wanted. Where the things you share in private stay private instead of being under constant surveillance from advertising corporations and government intelligence agencies.
