An experiential graduate seminar in the English Department at Northeastern University, Spring 2019. “Reading Machines” will pivot around the double valence of its title, outlining a literary history of new media from the hand-press period to the present. BookBrainz is now an official MetaBrainz project!
BookBrainz aims to give every book a unique identifier. It's similar to Musicbrainz, which does the same thing for songs. Bookbrainz (or something similar) is needed because there are no unambiguous identifiers for books published before the arrival of ISBNs. OCLC numbers do not count for a number of reasons. For example, OCLC does not allow the public bulk access to its data.
