The Mac Home app is a direct refutation to the idea that iOS developers won't just use Marzipan to ship thoughtless iOS shovelware on the Mac. From Apple themselves.

@gruber Of note, that antenna line that throws off the symmetry of the bottom of the iPhone X🅂 is precisely where the headphone jack used to be. 🤔

Most of the things VR promised to deliver in the early 90s have already happened. Just not via VR. The phone connected us all together and gave everyone instant access to all of the information.

Precise VBR seeking is poorly supported on Android and non-phone devices (car stereos, etc.).

I really wanted it to be better in practice, but if I’m honest, its benefits aren’t worth the reduced compatibility. And again, if controlling both sides, might as well use Opus. https://t.co/E1HLcwL5on

Most listeners HATE this. Even slight pans of hosts to the left/right really bother some people.

For speech, stick to mono. https://t.co/hYThayaQ2J

Did Apple remove it because of the MacRumors article? The coincidence is verrrrrrrrry suspicious.

iTunes 12.6.5 was released about a week ago with support for iOS 12. But now it appears that Apple has eliminated the Mac version *today*. See the published date.https://t.co/yX8JyuMrT6https://t.co/ouRPAfhhyZ pic.twitter.com/OWa4da5vDa

If you’re going to do another format besides MP3 and sacrifice compatibility and ubiquity, presumably because you control the playback platform and can use whatever codec you want, it doesn’t make sense to go to AAC in 2018 — skip it and go to Opus, which is FAR more efficient.

Deciding your podcast’s format is simple.

Is it mostly people talking? 64 kbps mono MP3.

Is it mostly music? 192 kbps stereo MP3.

Anything higher is a waste of bandwidth, and anything lower is sacrificing quality for a space savings that few of your listeners will notice.
