iOS 13 itself on the iPhone also had a full Sleep Mode system that was pulled from the OS right before WWDC in June. Possible that it comes back for the final version next week, or that it’s tied to the Watch or just fully scrapped.

Just a reminder that Xcode b7 seems to be built against Catalina b6 (and hence doesn't work right w/ b7): https://t.co/q0O2ROwoPZ

Pretty sure this is a regression, it’s not documented anywhere and the lack of an error (even a nil UIImage) makes me think it’s a “whoops” we’ll have to deal with in 13.1.

iOS 13 bug/tip: UIImagePickerController no longer prompts for read access on your behalf. You need to prompt for authorization before presenting the controller.

If you don’t you don’t get an error, just a blank UIImage (and “Operation not permitted” in console.)

Great news- thanks! After 25+ years of using it, I finally caved & purchased Transit a couple of months ago. I wasn’t aware Jim was working on 5.8, but I’m signing up for the beta now. Transmit does what I need it to, but I always *loved* using Fetch.

Since I am obviously not good at quote tweeting myself and properly including links, here’s the video I just put up — yup, twofer Monday! — on the whole Google Project Zero controversy…https://t.co/ThxQ9wdoPE

Have anyone figured out how to do "Add to Home Screen" functionality in iOS 13? Web apps added to the Home Screen are no longer killed when they go into the background, so the old way of redirecting the user from the website and into the app only works on the first launch.

This complaint prompted by Photos deciding to prominently display a painful memory as a “Featured Photo” with no way for me to remove it, hide it, or un-feature it except deleting it or completely hiding it from absolutely everything and all albums.

“Hiding” a photo used to work like this initially. Then Apple made hidden, completely hidden, basically almost deleted. They only show in the “hidden” photos album now, making the entire feature completely useless to me.

Apple removing hidden photos from Albums basically killed the feature for me.
I have hundreds of photos, screenshots and gif, etc… that I don’t want showing up in the pretty “Photos” tab, Featured photos, or memories. I do however what them to show up in albums, and camera roll.
