More precisely: ARMv8.3 adds a new float-to-int instruction with errors and out-of-range values handled the way that JavaScript wants. The previous insns to get JavaScript's semantics were much slower. JavaScript's numbers are double by default so it needs this conversion a lot.

Siri should really always be disabled from the lock screen. Doing otherwise opens all kinds of doors. I’ve been known to teach my kids a lesson in security by using Siri to set alarms on their phones for 3 am. 😈 https://t.co/FGpSNAoFVL

Is KextManagerCopyLoadedKextInfo not allowed in 10.14?

Usable from pyobjc (which is Apple signed) but I just tried using it elsewhere and got:

(kernel) Failed to query kext info (MAC policy error 0x1).
Failed to read loaded kext info from kernel - (libkern/kext) internal error

I think that particular one was finally fixed, but there are others like this one: https://t.co/IzxqEQo3OL Ordered relationships have always had issues and aren’t native in Swift, either. :(

That justification was enough to get people to stop asking too much about it. :-) Hardware has multi year timelines and we could see this coming. Making bitcode happen was a ton of work for many teams.

Sure, but while we suspected something like this could happen, at the time the story was “perhaps to support a handful of new instructions” :-)

I think it’s kind of a Greenspun’s Tenth Rule situation. You are going to reinvent a lot of what Core Data does, possibly less well. But OTOH there are some SQLite things that Core Data doesn’t do at all, like modeled primary keys and triggers, so you have to know what you need..
