It’s hard to take the iPad seriously for video production when iOS still doesn’t support their own ProRes codec family. External storage and additional input peripherals are also critical foundations it needs.

I *want* to use the iPad for my work. It’s quite impossible today.

When people say the iPad isn’t a pro device, this is the type of stuff they’re talking about. For me, as a web developer, an iPad isn’t useful, professionally, until it has a web inspector.

I'm unclear why people are so adamant on killing the "old paradigm"? Take the office metaphor of a desktop, files, etc. The reason we still largely use that is because it was refined over a long time – and it works!

Not everything needs to be killed off. https://t.co/4m2hglnlCw

It’s probably true that this has something to do with Screen Time, but mentioning that in their blog post probably isn’t doing them any favors...

My personal best guess is that new UIs should come with a "manual" that mostly consists of a list of looping, captioned GIFs/animations that explain all the invisible gestures needed to use it.

@TheTedNelson famously quipped that "intuitive" just means "retroactively obvious". I think the problem is that nobody even seems to try to explain their mobile UIs so that they could be retroactively obvious. Only ppl who watch every keynote seem to know all of the gestures.

Having a symbol that can be learned at all is also arguably better than the multitudes of completely implicit and invisible gestures mobile devices support

It's fascinating how contemporary UI design has converged on a vocabulary only understood by other UI designers

Not sure what’s different about the new iPad Pro, but I find myself using it much more than past ones.

Oh, also the speakers. They are surprisingly good!

My experience with Alexa is that it’s really, seriously not that far ahead any other voice assistant. I think Amazon has been super clever about getting Alexa into a lot of places, but I’m skeptical how many people use commands beyond “play this song.”

So… this is what is happening with our iOS app right now. We are in a state of limbo. Some apps that do EXACTLY what we do have been removed and then allowed back in. What is the difference? Our users have begged for it for years. RescueTime invented this category 10 years ago. https://t.co/fFLELgBwrW

Ever wonder how Apple Pay (and many others) automagically has your new credit card number when you get a replacement card? It's a thing! Visa "Account Updater" (https://t.co/2k7monqMKT), AMEX "Cardrefresher" (https://t.co/Omvnse0UOa), etc. Gotta keep those subscriptions flowing…

These 2 things likely both true:

1) iPhone Growth (units & revenue) relatively flat in 2019 Financial year.

2) iPhone Profits remain at record level.

It does change the “growth” narrative on the stock, but company net income remains at gigantic level (and growing).$AAPL pic.twitter.com/tfsrcwbzgh
