One of my favorite “features” of the original iPhone were those empty icon slots on the home screen. We could have filled them, but we chose to leave them blank. We put the work into the apps we shipped, rejecting good ideas to focus on the great ideas. pic.twitter.com/q5hBMIOY3c

Now, more than ever, I think of Gruber’s line about the lightness of iOS allowing the Mac to be heavy.

Seemingly pure business decision can have detrimental design implications. The fact that iPads don’t come with a Pencil stunts the entire ecosystem. Every app needs to operate as if the Pencil is a nice to have & the reality is only a subset of an already small user base has one.

It’s also interesting to see Google respond to Apple’s big ‘privacy’ push. They mention it so many times in the video.
And they seem to actually be implementing stuff for it to, like the option to auto delete account history after so many months. https://t.co/1dxbjMgef4

This is batshit: Uber claimed in their SEC filing that their drivers they pay are actually “customers”, and that those of us who use the app are just “end-users” who they have zero obligation to provide with good service. https://t.co/RELCBWDKri pic.twitter.com/3OrjgWIzfR

I believe so, because it requires Developer ID, which is not available to free accounts.

Thank you for appreciating this!!! I know we'd be a lot richer, but it increasingly feels like we're here on earth to prove that this is possible. ❤️

It's been a continual blessing that you guys didn't get swallowed up to work on iTunes. Independent developers that put out quality software so consistently are a rare breed

Dave Mark wonders if Marzipan apps will be available only through the App Store.

I wonder this too. This one of the biggest questions for this year’s WWDC. The answer matters to me personally: if Marzipan apps are App-Store-only, then I can’t use it ... https://t.co/PUG2iACUZ3

Did you know that you can track libraries releases on GitHub using an RSS reader? Just add an ".atom" extension at the end of the project releases pages to get a feed link ✨ (ex: https://t.co/wMSxUtl9Y5) Here an example of the projects I track in my Feedly: pic.twitter.com/lObhanEBqI

„As a result of all this, would-be competitors can’t raise the money to take on Facebook. Investors realize that if a company gets traction, Facebook will copy its innovations, shut it down or acquire it for a relatively modest sum.“

I’m calling for breaking up @Facebook in an essay in the @nytimes. FB has become too big and too powerful, and it’s part of a trend in our economy of an increasing concentration of corporate power. We can fix this: break the company up and regulate it. https://t.co/34rITPfvJ9

As @_inside revealed it on Stacktrace (https://t.co/Xu42x8pBzp), I can finally repeat here: the Music app on macOS 10.15 is indeed not a UIKit app, but is a stripped-down and refactored version of iTunes. Including (last I heard) disc burning, smart playlists, & device management

Todays pet peeve: You cannot run a single unit test in Xcode, until all your unit tests compile. (Turning off target membership for non-compiling tests is hardly an option, if you have several hundred unit test files, some of which were already disabled before.)
