The Spotify issue @jcenters and @gruber you reference https://t.co/8bDl0mGHuq *is* crazy. Problem is you contrast with Apple and I’ve come to realize that interacting with Apple has gone from being an exercise in "how the world should be” to “how a cadre of MBAs ruins… 1/2

Reminds me of @hotdogsladies pointing out people who leave 1-star reviews for the Yelp app in the App Store when what they're actually intending to do is leave a review inside the Yelp app of a restaurant.

Apple's dual operating system strategy is ill-equipped for foldable tablets; what happens when a MacBook is an iPad and an iPad is a MacBook? Does Apple sell two identical devices with different OSes? Or does the Mac stay with legacy form-factors only? https://t.co/5ki5kQJtcJ

Hot tip for anyone who wants a white NSProgressIndicator in 2019: Just set the progress indicator’s appearance to dark aqua. No need to use CIFilter (like what everyone on Stack Overflow will tell you to do) pic.twitter.com/FOIlHSbaJp

That’s Steve before Scott Forstall was expelled from Apple. Since he took over from Steve’s ‘heir apparent’ Cook has taken Apple in a very different “services” direction.

Ten years is a long time and has no bearing on current_AAPL. Nice nostalgia tho’.

1. Yes Apple holds a complete monopoly on iOS users with the AppStore and aggressively shuts down any other options.

2. Simultaneously “app buyers could sue the company for allegedly driving up prices” is laughable. The AppStore is a race to the bottom.https://t.co/4dpdccckHM

So glad we gave the heave-ho to that old nasty Obj-C compiler in favor of modern features like *checks notes* rebuilding half the app each time on Cmd-B after making no changes.

I said this 10 years ago: iOS will be the first time Apple has ever have to deal with the reality that they can no longer just purge their entire platform for a new OS like they've done multiple times in the past. Welcome to owning your legacy warts for decades, Apple. https://t.co/jxuCc0dQfH

I think AppKit’s approach to layers is a bit more nuanced, and it sounds like that gives it flexibility over a wider range of hardware. I don’t know if UIKit’s approach to layers will scale well.

It wouldn’t totally surprise me to see UIKit adopt AppKit’s approach to layers.

I think the thing that’ll finally push me from SVN to Git for my Acorn repo is that SVN can’t handle custom icons on .xcodeproj files, and Git can.

(Before you shame me for using svn- I’m the only dev and up till now there’s been no reason to switch).

Remember when Apple hijacked your phone number, forced you onto its messaging platform unwittingly and then penalized you if you left? Hoping there's a case like this brewing on iMessage https://t.co/m25V8TQEMg

This is a sentiment I generally agree with. If AppKit is a set of capabilities we ultimately want on both platforms, why not use AppKit instead of starting from scratch? Are any of AppKit's flaws so fatal it's more efficient to re-write it from scratch instead of fixing it? https://t.co/84WlcS0xR5
