"Added the privacy preserving Ad Click Attribution API as an experimental feature"

Uh, what is that?? "privacy preserving Ad Click Attribution" sounds like an oxymoron. https://t.co/6Cy64IUgDC

PSA: please don’t set transforms on views you don’t own, like UITableViewCell. It can have all sorts of side effects as it messes up the frame of those views.

I wish I could have deeper name-spacing on my @github repositories.

Instead of davedelong/project-app, davedelong/project-site, davdelong/project-backend, I wish I could do davedelong/project/(site,app,backend) and have a “README” at the project/ level explaining the subrepos

...and evidently my iPhone XS counts as a "compact" phone, per numerous internet "best small phones" lists. Um, what? Do people not remember what "compact" or "small" actually *means*? I've pretty big hands, and I can't reach across the screen one-handed. That's not "compact".

My wife's iPhone SE is dying by inches. Are there any Android handsets out there of comparable size (and with a decent camera)? The Apple lineup is not exactly female-pocket-friendly...

I know there’s not going to be a switch given impending ARM Macs, but would have been nice to just have Ryzen Macs instead of complaining about Intel.

They’re a way better deal, nobody buys for “Intel Inside”, and then maybe the integrated GPUs wouldn’t be total garbage 🤷‍♂️

I should refrain from commenting, because nobody (on the outside) knows what will happen, and my opinion won't change things anyway.

I'm just very agitated. The future of the Mac feels bleak. As bleak as any time since the 1990s.

Apple’s excuse for banning parental control apps is kind of BS. https://t.co/ysFlGOPi1E. MDM was Apple’s solution for schools. Parental control apps used it for years. Don’t let Apple slither off too fast. (These apps also suck, but that’s another story. Apple MDM is bad tech.)

I hate so much that we’ve allowed Wall Street and VC to set “Growth” as success.

There is ZERO wrong with making something a set amount of users love.

And so often the hunger for growth is vapid, diluting, and cancerous.

Push back on growth.

Seems pretty damning and yet another example of Apple’s poor developer relations.

If anything, it seems like a good case study for not having your entire business depend on Apple’s iOS App Store. What a shame.

Apple’s stance against making hardware user repairable seriously negates all their ambitions towards being a ‘green’ company. Recycling hardware for raw materials is hugely wasteful (in the rare instances it even happens) vs. extending useful life. https://t.co/4grOEQ4OO9

Great insight by @mgsiegler on @gruber’s show about Apple’s mistakes over the last few years: they’re not nearly as good at “reading the room” as they used to be. pic.twitter.com/g8NaBGR62D

Really simple tip: I added this tiny script as a text filter to pretty format JSON. Put in ~/Library/Application Support/BBEdit/Text Filters/

Then available as menu item in Text > Apply Text Filter

Certainly can be improved but good enough most of the time pic.twitter.com/pAZVp0RmM9

People are perpetually complaining about @Flickr and the price increase for a Pro account.

But what Louie is describing is *exactly* why there is value in Flickr Pro. One of the few places that stores your *original* photos, uncompressed, and EXIF data intact. https://t.co/SnU3ajhiMt

Good News! If you're using Swift, you will probably be glad to know that

isDate(_ date1:, inSameDayAs date2:) -> Bool
isDateInToday(_ date:) -> Bool

are available on Calendar.

So, we don't need to write these ourselves.

Please stop writing these yourselves.

It surprised me to learn, decades ago, that for any business function one expects code, database, or both, there are thousands of companies doing that entire activity at an unimaginably chaotic scale using a single spreadsheet on a shared drive. Thus the market for google docs.
