I wrote this in 2015. It's fun to re-read and see how some of it still feels fresh. "The Seven Stages of Swift": https://t.co/yN60nIHP59

“The latest Xcode fails to convert the project from Obj-C garbage collection to ARC. I was finally able to get it to work by manually editing the project.pbxproj file, but that's not recommended. Actually, none of this is recommended, but never mind that.” https://t.co/bCKT3IKmsT

Xcode needs an “extract as reproduction case for bug report” refactor option…

Point it at something and it extracts the minimum necessary sample code to run it.

I wonder how much churn it causes Apple internally. They still have to support non-Metal rendering for the window server in Mojave when running in a VM/safe mode/unsupported GPU config.

If these changes were absorbed into our Mac products, that makes it even more complicated. There are plenty of Macs that, for example, run High Sierra but don't support Metal hardware acceleration.

I really wish Metal had a software implementation. We're currently weighing using Metal for compute work against dropping non-Metal devices. Or maintaining a separate software pipeline.

So, wow, Mark Zuckerberg published a plan to entrench Facebook, fend off regulatory action, lower costs, shrink scandal exposure, acknowledge realities— and he called it a "privacy-focused vision" while ignoring all the big privacy issues! 🙄 My NYT oped. https://t.co/IAj9BIwWIr pic.twitter.com/ta8cQNuP8Q

Been using HockeyApp for years, though will have to switch to App Center sometime this year. They’ve been handling the transition well so far though.

Reading the post about @Airbnb acquiring Hotel Tonight has me worried. They emphasize boutique hotels a lot (7x in the post!), probably because proper hotel chains won't want to do business with them. But currently most hotels on HT aren't boutiques.
