Just don’t let him see Apple’s *util commands which now have verbs which even make the tea.

Thinking about adding an auto-run option for @retrobatch workflows when a certain modifier key combo is held down at the time the workflow opens. Is there already any precedence for this I don’t know about? A key combo I should already use?

You phrased it as if it was obvious from the beginning, yet the entire OS, all the hardware since, and Jobs product release video says the exact opposite.

The entire point was to try to find that next way, to break out of the molds, to be the future of computing… in this particular axis they had to revert, they never found a better way. That’s sad. It can be the correct move and also sad.

“How else would you get precision text editing?”

The presumes mouse = the end state. Which is exactly my point… Jobs/they wanted to find the “next” way to do this… it didn’t materialize, which is sad.

If it’s as dumb obvious as you make it sound, it would have been in v1, no?

My #1 feature request for the Files app:
- increased information density.

The iOS 7 style of massive white space padding and giant items means anything over 3 or 4 files in a folder feels like an unmanageable large quantity of items.

I want a minimal whitespace high density UI.

I’m not sure what I did or when it happened, but my MBP’s TouchBar is no longer showing the escape key anymore and boy this is super annoying.

When the physical Escape key returned with the 16” MBP I was sure it would follow on iPad. Sadly it's still missing. When stuck in a mode (e.g. accidental drag operation) it’s such a relieve that you can press it and no harm is done. pic.twitter.com/xg7nCEXCYk

And that’s completely ignoring the software developer & power user software ecosystems Apple has chosen to ban on the iPad by AppStore policy.

Until I can use an iPad without thinking “I can’t do this... but if I was using the ‘real’ desktop version of this app instead of the reduced feature set ‘mobile version’ I would be able to” then it can’t replace a real computer for me.

The iPad is in a weird state where I love the hardware, but the software is still hobbled by policy not technology.

There is no way to use a bitmap for a cursor that I can see — it has to be a bezier path, which is how Apple does that morphing animation as it switches. Along the same lines, WebKit will not let you set a bitmap cursor — only a system default circle, or an I-beam

There *is* something I like among the things Apple introduced today. The new MacBook Air is in every way better than the model it replaces. Only small downside: Catalina preinstalled. *smirk*
