I'm a big fan of ScreenFlow generally and do recommend the app, but the menu bar helper uses disproportionate resources for its goal. This is not unlike dropbox or adobe CC.

At least you can disable it in ScreenFlow's prefs.

Another fun 10.15 nanny feature. You can no longer open DMGs if they aren’t notarized, even if the app within it is.

My biggest problem with Google Drive is when you have two Google Accounts. I have one for one of my emails that is 1 TB and then one for my corporate that is almost full. Hard to switch between them.

To write an iOS app, you have to learn Objective-C, Swift, or both. Xcode. UIKit and Foundation and maybe Core Data. How to upload apps to the App Store.

But… after learning all that, AppKit, which is super-similar to UIKit, is a bridge too far? This still freaks me out!

Case in point, I’m using an app which shows six rectangular buttons with different colors and no icons. I’m not doing anything that I’d expect to change anything’s color. What do they do? Who knows?

The Mac’s touch bar is such a mess. A bunch of icons with no way to tell what they do aside from tapping and hoping it’s nothing bad. Sometimes they suddenly change to others that also don’t mean anything.

CNContactPickerViewController is a handy, non-creepy way for apps to access contacts without the user having to grant permission to access ALL their contacts. But it was impossible to find via Google. Please upvote my answer so others will find it: https://t.co/S9XOKvKpmp

Sure, other auto manufacturers are offering CarPlay for free. But when you buy a German luxury car, you expect it to be price competitive?

Here’s the thing with BMW/CarPlay: As someone who has been driving a BMW the last 2 weeks with wireless CarPlay, it’s worth $80 a year, easy.

Also, it was $300 as a one-time fee, and that’s still available. If you have a 3-year lease, the sub is cheaper. https://t.co/jaoRiYTa5G

BMW CarPlay subscription: “serious next-level bullshit right there.” https://t.co/hskBoXmmYM. I have a personal moratorium on new subscriptions of any kind anywhere.

This may be the rare case where the problem isn’t the search engine. It can’t find what isn’t there.
