My two favorite versions of BBEdit are always the same:

The first one I saw, which I think was BBEdit 2.2, in 1992. It just blew me away — it was exactly what I never knew I needed.

The latest version — one of the remarkable things about BBEdit is that it’s only gotten better.

"Most customers did not feel tricked into paying for IAPs or subscriptions" is a strange take. Barely a majority of iOS users answered an unqualified "No" to whether they ever felt tricked, and fewer than on Android.

Yeah, a slight majority is not good enough. I guess I expected it to be worse.

I don’t know. It really is old and is locked at 8 GB of RAM. But it looks like they’ve stopped selling the old MacBook Pros…

Laptops are an easy sell for Apple's ARM chips. But I think that either it will take a long time for Apple to make workstation ARM chips, and that it might possibly never happen. Which is why a move like this would make sense for Apple's high end products. https://t.co/i4TvVEhVKh

I can also say that for Europeans, the XR is not seen as cheap at all. It's actually a price increase against the 8 it replaces.

My own experience with the XR:

Best iPhone ever. Insane battery life, killer cameras, out of this world speed. It’s the best personal computer I’ve ever owned. It blows me away every single day that I use it. And I came from a 7 Plus, so I don’t really notice the lack of OLED.

I don’t know if dlopen’ing an MH_EXECUTE file is formally supported. But yes, only exported symbols are ever found by dlsym() and by default executables are stripped too much for that.

Something more radical: How about making kick-ass mid-range devices every year instead of giving customers the dirty feeling of having to settle for old models?

Nah, it’s beneath Apple for them to play in that market, the fans say. Nope, resale iPhones are a thriving market!

Who are these people making video streaming apps without skip-forward/back-N-seconds buttons or gestures? I guess they never miss what a character said or want to rewatch a pivotal moment?

Gartner has been very wrong before, but now we'll never know, because Apple refuses to give numbers. So by default, Gartner becomes the undisputed truth. https://t.co/HMLzq1KwlK
