I've talked to many developers who, like myself, dismiss Apple as an employer because they would have to give up their indie apps, podcasts, and blogs.

The best developers are multi-talented, ambitious people. Apple is forfeiting talent to other companies with this policy.

(Also in this sketchbook, an idea I had for a web site that was like a little city, where people would claim homes, visit other homes, etc. I actually built this, it used a lot of image maps. I called it iLife! 5 years before Apple used that name. Ok old man rambling is done now) pic.twitter.com/TIce50DWZo

There are many reasons why the Internet Archive is amazing.

But it's so wild that I can find an old notebook in the basement, flip open to a sketch of my long-forgotten first web job in college, and in seconds pull up the exact (super cringe-tastic) page I designed 25 years ago pic.twitter.com/Rzxudbp9Ot

Good point. I was at a midnight sale for 10.0. The Apple resellers weren’t allowed to sell it even an hour before the release date so they made an event out of it with drinks etc. starting at midnight. Good times.

Nothing left of that spirit in @Apple products… 😔 https://t.co/IEB9ujfXTM

Or you could open TextEdit which still has those features, uses a fraction of the RAM and launches in under a second.

Web browsers are ridiculous. https://t.co/NJJfdZfQ3L

Do you sometimes need the quickest text scratchpad ever? No save. No features other than just ‘put text here’. Pro Tip! Paste:

data:text/html,

…into the URL for a new browser tab and hey presto! You’ve got a place to dump plain text! pic.twitter.com/ejKRI7kbSG

Remember when we eagerly paid $129 for Mac OS X updates instead of getting dragged kicking and screaming to install the "free" updates we don't want?

and we're finally really starting to exploit the capabilities of ARC optimization in Swift 5.2, so a lot of unnecessary copies get eliminated completely

Transparent overlays and intercepting right click are two different things.

If I may toot my own horn, my extension can stop both. ;-)

Somehow the industry has managed to bamboozle an entire generation into paying monthly subscriptions for access to music.

I just don’t think it makes sense unless you listen to an ungodly amount of new music and will continue to do so until the day you die. https://t.co/TECjjZ1XHP

Xcode 11.4b1 is great overall. Similar stability, much nicer Simulator, everything still compiles, way faster UI tests, amazing view inspector upgrades. Gonna use this as main IDE now. Great work, Xcode team!
