Samsung is years, if not a decade ahead of Apple in some areas of software and slightly behind in others. Many people would be able to use a Galaxy phone as their only computer today, that might never be possible on an iPhone.

In using the new Galaxy phones (briefly), Samsung is beating Apple to triple camera by 7 months, 5G and rear 3D by ~ 1.5 years, and screen design by ~1.5 - 2.5 years. But their software/services feels 1-2 years behind.

What ever you think about AMP, ads not being able to run arbitrary JavaScript, and having a format that can be verified to be safe without trusting the source is a huge step forward for the health of the web.
No more bitcoin mining, auto-redirects, etc.

Curious about this, but afaik Radar was always outsourced — to Apple’s IS&T. So in that sense, Apple people can’t do much as IS&T are in charge? https://t.co/yzSvuujTGH

This looks a lot like Microsoft’s strategy with Windows. I’m happy Microsoft is trying it because I want people to try new things, and **I don’t use Microsoft products.** I’ve long argued that the unified app binary is a misguided goal and thought Apple shared that vision. 😔 https://t.co/aYzqIvEit5

The row deselection animation is an important cue to maintain the user's sense of place as they visit items in list. Most apps break the animation, including Apple's Notes and Mail. Sad! pic.twitter.com/cPq8jBVEyI

But their suggestion to set it up by signing out of iCloud on your phone is pretty nuts. That’s a painful process to go through when your phone starts trying to delete all of your synced iCloud content.

The great thing about a recovery key is you can put a copy of it anywhere, including a bank safe deposit box. You don't need a backup device just for recovery.

And, alas, there goes my original Apple ID, which wasn’t an email address, and thus couldn’t have 2FA turned on.

End of an era.

+1

Samsung copied AirPods in the good way and:
- made them 20% cheaper
- put a better battery life
- added wireless charging
- give them for free if you preorder a S10.

Apple could copy some stuff there actually... https://t.co/ti5rLcSBup

Attention Apple devs:

You can still enable 2-step authentication today before you enable 2-factor authentication. I just did it.

This is the *only* way to have a recovery key after you enable 2-factor. Only accounts that migrate from 2-step get a recovery key. pic.twitter.com/EpURfzVuNI
