The SMS thing is “two-step” verification (as opposed to “two-factor”), and though it’s still supported, I dunno if you can activate it on newer devices. Also, it’s less secure, because SMS.https://t.co/AXq382uDyp

I’ve got this working. Both my phone and my Mac now have 2 iCloud accounts. My dev account is “disabled” after turning off all the data switches, but I still get 2FA prompts on both devices

Switching AirPods between devices is very much like activating AirPlay. The first attempt fails about 25 % of the time, and when it works it takes five seconds when it should take less than one. Apple’s proprietary protocol may be better than Bluetooth, but that’s too low a bar.
