What gets me is being in Apple retail and not being able to be an app dev. I understand being an engineer in Cupertino with these restrictions but I don’t think it should apply to retail to

The best part about that thread is that I am about 90% the StepStone ObjC compiler actually had a keyword with pretty much the same semantics as objc_direct. Unfortunately I can’t find any documentation for it.

I still find it bizarre how Apple hasn’t positioned HomePod as a home video/audio device.

I thought for sure it would have gotten native Apple TV support so that it could be used as your home theater.

But it’s been almost 2 years and it’s still just a music player.

Oh, that makes total sense!

If *Apple* announces the top apps - only we nerds care. And they’ve stepped on the journo’s stories.

If Apple spoon feeds top apps to journos, each journo writes to their audience

= relevant apps directly to relevant audience via happy journo.

Has to be that Apple thinks the journos telling the story is more effective than telling it themselves. So they event is numbers and talking points and great apps.

Apple’s top app/games media event started 30 minutes ago and zero news. 🤔 What’s the point of silently highlighting top apps to a small media group? To tell them what apps to write about?

Pretty weird so far... https://t.co/GwydL7wYMB

Can’t make a Genius Bar appointment directly anymore? This correct? A recent policy change? https://t.co/ZBCcbv455e

I discovered recently that one can’t making a Genius Bar appt directly anymore. Have to chat with support before they’ll set you up with one. They were quick to do it once we couldn’t sort out the issue directly, but it would have been nice to know they’d changed that.

We need more devs to think in an adversarial way toward malicious actors and websites when it comes to spam and privacy.

For example, websites should not be able to know whether notifications are enabled, or whether private browsing is enabled.

There's this new dumb thing where if you follow a https://t.co/zDMdtwraGf link when you're logged in with your Apple ID, it makes you agree to a "Talent Privacy Consent", whereas if you're logged out, you can just go straight to the job page. WTF

Update to this- looks like NSFontManager’s availableMembersOfFontFamily: is busted on 10.15, and that’s why it’s only coming up as an issue now.
