Going so wide by default it ends up being slower than no concurrency, & just running entirely on the main thread, is one of my big concerns about ‘async/await’ being added to Swift.

NSOperationQueues & GDC are actually really good APIs, that you can control well. https://t.co/RFBV1T4pA4

In the past, they would have waited until Catalyst v3 to actually launch it (aka 2021). And they'd launch it w/o real-world apps using it, so there would be tons of gaps between what we need and what they thought we needed.

In 2015, Facebook said its excessive background usage was just a bug. “We’re looking into this and hope to have a fix soon.” I guess Apple was done waiting. https://t.co/HVTx5diuYL

🤦‍♂️ all wrong. Queues are not cheap, you should reuse queues, you should worry a lot about making (too many) queues. pic.twitter.com/H7Pi23pJm2

One important thing to remember — polish and custom aren’t the same thing.

A polished UI can absolutely use standard controls.

OH: “How a company treats applicants, even the ones they don’t hire, is vitally important. It’s kind of like meeting someone new and seeing how they treat the wait staff in a restaurant. Tells you so much about the rest of their character.” 💯

Surprises from @FlightyApp feedback

1. Users' ideas are 99% crap. Not that they are bad ideas, but they want faster horses, not the Model T we have planned already.

2. Users are *extremely* forgiving on small UI things. And *extremely* unforgiving on main functions.

I have never, ever recorded separately on two devices in the same room and not had catastrophic sync/drift issues.

(That said, I have never tried with two Zooms.)

Counterpoint: this wording let’s people know they can set it as default later, hence reducing the anxiety of tapping “No thanks” and not being able to change it later, so fewer people will tap “Set as default”
