Think of this when you think Swift's String representation is too complex for your liking. https://t.co/zc1VqVXlkU

It’s 2019 and searching in iMessage is still one of the worst user experiences a large tech company has ever produced

Marco echos my feelings on the whole Apple Card denim and leather thing…whether or not it’s a real issue, it sure sounds like aliens designed a thing that isn’t supposed to be used in the exact ways cards are used. https://t.co/0WZiZURbMv pic.twitter.com/qX83XRTuld

I've been through two Logitech K750 keyboards this year, and the space bar on the second is giving out just as the first did. I'm moving on to an Apple keyboard. Not a company known for its keyboard reliability, I know ...

I highly recommend the IX500. It's been solid, selecting the scan profile is better, OCR for the filename is nice, it's a bit quieter well it makes a more modern mechanical sound, the Wi-Fi is great and I even like the colour!

New Xcode beta explicitly excludes PencilKit classes from the Catalyst SDK, so the app I've been working on all summer, which worked great up to the current betas, is no longer compilable or functional. In the last beta they removed input so I could render but not draw

How do you like the IX500? Reviews make it sound like it’s not as smooth a scanning process as with previous versions.

I ran into the same problem that you did with my ScanSnap no longer working on recent versions of macOS. And I ended up trying https://t.co/P1MSjDRsyP since it claimed to work with lots of scanners.

And not only does it work but I might even like it better than ScanSnap Manager!

Thanks. I’ll take a look at ExactScan. Did not like VueScan because it required more ceremony than ScanSnap Manager and created huge PDF files.

My understanding is that the new extensions work in a very different way, so you can’t really convert.

Apple Arcade comes up a bit, but Catalyst on its own has major problems that make it a non-starter for games without using a lot of undocumented API https://t.co/ouGXjfBelX

I think Catalyst shipped this year because of Arcade - somebody decided that the unified platform idea of Arcade was important enough to push it out ASAP, despite related work like a universal non-Arcade App Store not being ready yet. https://t.co/9yGwTIWgqC

I suspect there are people inside Apple who are enthusiastic: the managers of Home, News, Podcasts, TV, Photos, maybe iWork, who otherwise have to devote additional resources to get Mac apps built. But given how uneven the results are, I wish it had another year as non-public API

Catalyst is terrible for games. It doesn't give you keyboard event input, you can't hide the mouse cursor, you can't capture the mouse and you can't launch fullscreen. The only way it works for games is if Apple is instructing game developers to use private(to Catalyst) API

then the Mac is about to become the platform of bizarre Frankenstein's afterthoughts. Developers are going to pick this tech, because iPhone is the center of everybody's universe. If Apple wanted a strong future for the Mac, they needed to make this good

Doesn’t that suggest to you that Catalyst is exactly what it seems like: a bizarre Frankensteinian afterthought that Apple has very little enthusiasm for?
