Long tail though; how many small-time podcasters would find easy monetization incredibly enabling? No point asking people already making money

I asked a bunch of podcasters a few years ago if they'd participate in a shared-payment plan in Overcast.

The responses were universally tepid: podcasters don't want middlemen added to their revenue streams or the relationship they have with their listeners.

Recommending Mastodon as an alternative to Twitter is like suggesting HURD as an iOS alternative.

A future in Apple's lineup? 😜 If it's a dead-end product, in a couple years iOS won't even run on it anymore. I really hope they don't discontinue the mini entirely https://t.co/GEbOlaL8Ro

I just tried to look up an unfamiliar word on the iPhone, and it helpfully presented me with the contact details for a nearby business with a similar (but different) name, and no other options. Helpful.

I want a reader, not a phone; something that can actually be 3mm thin and have a palm grip, with physical buttons for back/forward

It would be easier to stomach the loss of iPad mini if Apple Books actually worked on any eReader in existence. My kingdom for an LCD device in the Kindle Oasis chassis that runs Apple Books

After almost 3 years in the .NET world I’m totally converted. When I need to code a small tool, I fire JetBrains Rider and I write it in C#. I prefer everything in the .NET ecosystem vs Apple/Cocoa: tools, APIs, Microsoft. I should probably blog about those differences sometime.

In an XCUITest, an empty UITextField’s `value` (XCUIElementAttributes.value) is equal to the text field’s placeholder text instead of being nil or the empty string. This behavior makes absolutely no sense to me. pic.twitter.com/poxkY7NIdn

Agreed. Swift gutted our ability to deliver the best for at least 5 years. Apple left us exposed to having our careers being derailed, which has happened for many ☹️ I want to be writing grey software, not faffing about learning a new language every year.

It’s depressing seeing Apple doubling down on proprietary tech, they’re losing the platform war again and I don’t think they even realise it because it’s not hurting them financially yet. But having nice hardware as the only thing keeping you relevant is a dangerous strategy.
